To be fair the rape case wasn’t criminal, it was a civil case, meaning it was only ever money that was going to settle it. He didn’t make a criminal charge go away. I don’t like the guy, as you say he reeks of arrogance and self importance, but I’m not sure there’s much we can deduce from the settlement in that instance.
We might be able to deduce something from the documents where he admitted she said no multiple times and he apologised afterwards.
