    Just seen this on Doug O Kanes Twitter..

    Bethany England and John Stones were born within a week of each other in 1994 in Barnsley. They’ve both played football for England, won several league titles and now (after Bethany’s record move to Spurs) become two of the most expensive English footballers for their genders

    Not being funny but does that make him "from Barnsley" or is it just the fact that he played for Barnsley?
    Penistone, like Barnsley, has an "S" postcode ... Sheffield unfortunately, so why is he The Barnsley Beckenbauer?

    Penistone is 100% Barnsley. Barnsley Council. Every area in Barnsley also has an 'S' postcode. Are you suggesting the whole of Barnsley is actually Sheffield?

    Was he actually ‘born’ in penistone?

    He might have been born at home or whatever but it’s more likely he was born in hospital isn’t it?

    tbf I think most people probably thought he meant which part of Barnsley was he brought up in, rather than specifically which hospital ward he was delivered in :)

    He grew up he in Thurlstone, went to Penistone grammar. A Barnsley lad through and through. In any event Penistone is definitely Barnsley!
