the problem there is, that when it comes to putting the ball in the net , they aren’t doing a lot right either.
I'd be very careful about putting in a half fit loan player. Norwood or Cole would have to make the miss of the season.
It's not good enough, I don't care what other people say. It just shows how low the expectations are with some of the fan base.
We're going to need some players just to compete. Williams is injury prone. Edwards is out. Midfield blows hot and cold. Martin is an Obbie Oulare cardboard cut out. Then we need strikers.
I was coming from the angle that it was a positive that we had got someone it who it seemed ideal and most of all in early in the window. To be told a few days later he's coming back from injury and won't be fully ready for a couple of weeks rather it been the end of the world its just a little bit disappointing.
I don't have a particular problem of the club signing Watters when they did as long as there's nothing long-term about his fitness. We have a lot of games at the end of the month and if he is fit for them and fully integrated then it's not a disaster. Where I am worried is that it means we still have no help at all for our hard-pressed, injury-ridden, threadbare, already un-balanced squad. I'd say that we already have the worst bench in the league even before Edwards' injury. I'd also say that the perceived loss of form of Cole (who has been good up to Christmas) over the last few games comes at least in part from his workload - he's played in nearly all our games - and I reckon he's towing. From Accrington on he just seems to be a yard or two of pace down (and he wasn't rapid to start with). There have been 31 signings into L1 clubs already this window and so the argument about business only coming at the end of the window just doesn't wash. Of these 31, I've only come across 1 who isn't immediately available for the signing club. So it's time for Khaled to pull his figure out now and get Duff some help before we end up losing to a Charlton team getting their act together recently and a tough, savvy Accrington and falling out of the play-off positions even before that heavy schedule of tough games at the turn of the month. Khaled just feels to me like a heavy weight hung around MD's neck, holding him back - I'd love him to prove me wrong.
Of course the fans want the club to sign better players than what they currently have because otherwise what's the point of signing them.
And if that 2 or 3 becomes 5/6 we are still left with Norwood who is on his last legs and Devante who tries but often offers little. It’s not too much to ask to sign fit players who will at least improve the match day squad.
Article reads to me as he’s not gonna start game but could be in contention for coming off the bench and gradually bringing him into the team. Surely if he can come on with 30 minutes to go and add value to the team initially that is an improvement on what we have right now? Equallu if Duff had said he’s new to the team we will integrate him gradually we would be agreeing??
Must admit this seems a strange thing to get upset about We have signed a striker at the start of the window who even the most critical seem to think will improve our team If I take what Duff is said he has been injured, but now his issue is he isn't match fit and so isn't ready to start, but he is an option to come off the bench and should be ready to start by the end of the Window. I really dont see what some are getting worked up about
All ifs, buts and maybes at the moment, let’s see how it works out. Signing someone early in the window, fully fit and better than what you already have is notoriously difficult in January. Even Morris needed a few weeks to be up to speed when we signed him. People having a hissy fit because we’ve signed someone that needs minutes to get match fit seems a bit entitled to me.
Yes football fans expecting their team to sign players that can actually play for their team is definitely entitlement… no other teams ever manage this seemingly impossible task.
