    Yep, he had a great World Cup & Arsenal doubled the transfer fee & salary.

    There was Kevin Phillips who came close to signing for us in 2008, but opted to move to Birmingham so he didn't have to uproot his family. He fired them into the Premier League that season with a goal ratio of almost one in two.

    That's not how I remember it. We'd agreed everything for Freddie in the September of 1998, when John Hendrie was manager. Sweden played England in a Euros qualifying match & Freddie had a great game. Arsenal then gazumped us.
