I would! The directive to referees is Barnsley must concede a penalty every game but can’t be given one It’s getting annoying we’ve had very valid penalty claims turned down in most of the last 5 games and had some soft ones awarded against us. The 2 against Altringham probably the worst todays just an unbelievable decision
Me and thousands of others, we agree, the Ref thought otherwise, and he's the To55er with the whistle.
It's the inconsistency - if that's a pen (it's not imho) we should be on our 957th for the season by now, instead of 0 (league).
Doesn't look like a penalty to me, but neither does it look like how it has been described to me by Barnsley supporters. We've conceded several penalties recently, most of which I've thought were stonewall penalties to the opposition, and it's my opinion we should be more disciplined in our area. I don't think that's the case here. But neither do I think our player was in possession of the ball. Their forward got in front of our defender and took control of the ball, and then their legs became entangled. I don't think it's a foul either way, I would have waved play-on, but my view of the incident isn't the same as the refs. I don't know what he saw. I do know what I saw when Norwood scored the first. A thing of beauty. I'd prefer to read more threads about that sensational goal.
If you think majority of the penalties we've conceded are stonewall, I fear the game will be non-contact soon. This penalty was atrocious today. But I do agree, what a fine goal it was from Norwood. Was fantastic today. The pace on show from him in the second half was exquisite, fast as fk one might say!
Altringham. ? Does a place even exist. Altrincham brings back nightmares. Accrington btw. As for the penalty 2 out of 4 of us going home in the car. ( 1 wasn't sure and the only one who thought it wasn't is visually impaired to a high degree lol. ) including myself, thought it was one. especially as there was no reaction from our players. Never a pen in a million years.
Having watched it back several times......I'm not surprised it was given, the Accrington forward got infront of our player who was dawdling in his own box and then made contact with the back of the Accrington player - I've seen many penalties in the premier league "won" in that way - soft, yes, but all part of the game these days.
Yea...I think if the ref sees that again, he will be disappointed he gave that. Those coming together incidents happen all over the pitch all day and 9 times out of ten ....play on. The annoyance is that we still don't have a pen in the league this season and we have now have conceded 5 in 6 games!...some teams don't give that away that many in 2 seasons.Just a bit of even decision making would be nice, its not like we don't have similar incidents.
I just don't understand what Larkeche was thinking. All he had to do was lump the ball downfield and the game was over.
Having watched that penalty over n over again am struggling to see why it was given…..can only assume referee back Barnsley 3-1
The curious thing was that their players don't appeal for a penalty and our players don't moan about it.
I've watched it over and over and all I see is the player barging into Larkeche and then flicking his heels backwards so falling face first. A foul on Larkeche made to look like the other way round. Easily the worst of all the penalty decisions.
It is not a directive, it is rule 47(c.i.). "A penalty kick must be awarded against any team called Barnsley at some point in a game. The referee should ensure that it is related to some sort of contact between a Barnsley player and an opposition player however, trivial or innocuous it may be". As it was the last minute of stoppage time and virtually the only time that Accrington had been in our penalty area the referee was obliged to apply rule 47(c.i.). Don't blame the ref. any ref. on the football league list would have given it. No need to consult his assistant at all.
That’s what really annoys me we have had several blatant penalties not given at least 2 in games where a less blatant one has been given against us. Yet all someone had to do in our area is fall over and the ref points to the spot. I genuinely don’t understand it. I don’t believe there is really an official agenda against us but it sure looks like it
I imagine our players didn’t complain because they’ve learned ‘what’s the point?’ They’ve just got complacent to them being given against us by the time it’s got to 5 in 6 matches.
It was soft as **** but what I took from it was why he didn’t just boot it first time instead of trying to dribble it out . At 1-0 and that happens I’m calling for him to be sent back to the under 18s on a learning course .
