I read many, many posts on here, and I put them on myself, about the dire situation re. the state of Oakwell and the general matchday experience. I was wondering if the board would ever think of actually listening to supporters' views and try to act upon them, all without incurring expense, if that were possible. The main problem is that the powers that be do not have to live like ordinary supporters. They don't have to worry about queues for coffee, food or toilets. Their parking space is guaranteed. It's like being ill and going to the hospital ... if a Tory MP was poorly he'd get shoved to the front of the queue, unlike the rest of us waiting in A and E for hours enduring the misery and hopelessness. His experience would be far different from joe public's. I'm sure the Crynes, Khalid etc are blinkered against the real world that we call an Oakwell matchday. Is there anything positive that we can do to give their heads a wobble, to show them what we have to endure thanks to their lack of imagination or care?
Maybe they see being at the ground early a chore, and would rather be in the No. 7, Manx, Dove or elsewhere until 1/4 to three?
I think it’s the claiming to want suggestions etc and then never implementing any of them. Then asking again and never implementing them or just doing it badly which is sometimes worse than just not doing it at all and telling people why it can’t work why they would like it to etc. The kids club is one of the most basic things ever and they should just scrap it as in its current form as it’s atrocious and I just don’t think they have the staff to support it so probably should just shelve it rather than limping along.
I'd tend to agree with you if the board publicly said they're happy that the match day experience is up to scratch. However in past interviews and fan forums, it seems that's the main focus of their work, so I'm not sure they treat it with as much disregard as you say. I've got some ideas of my own, which I'll put in the suggestions thread when I get chance, some of which are relatively inexpensive (or even free) which I think will engage the fans more. I don't even think it needs to stop with the match day experience; as a supporter of the football club, I'm a fan 24 hours a day, not just between 3 and 5pm on a Saturday. There's so much more that they could tap into, not only to engage supporters, but build revenue too!
