I haven't heard or read about a position of Chief Revenue Officer before, nor heard Jon Flatman's name. Does anyone know when the role was introduced?
There's a sport's management/marketing consultant who was/is chairman of York City Knights called Jon Flatman. Think he's worked at Wakefield Trinity and a few other Rugby League teams. Not sure if it's the same guy but he'd have the right sort of skills to be a CRO I'd guess. CRO tends to be a common role in tech start-ups where they are "growth hacking" - looking at every avenue to drive revenue growth within a company and reporting to the board. Certainly when you look at how we've under performed in a commercial sense in the past it makes sense to have this role.
Not necessarily. In our case, commercial revenues don't match up to some other clubs our size for instance.
If it’s same guy, he turned them round from the verge of bankruptcy to relative success. So has a track record.
The single biggest thing I love about Barnsley fans, is their open minded outlook, and how they love to move forward and embrace new ideas. It inspires me.
Or or it could mean that he identifies the the catering is expensive and knocking 50 pence off a burger could increase sales dramatically and therefore revenue. It could mean identifying that putting a comfortable seating area in the east end inclusive beer sales. Or it could even mean realising that putting a big screen in the corner of the pitch showing videos I would allow the club to raise revenue from advertising and birthday messages while also so improving the experience for fans at the game. It could even mean him realising or identifying that 20-pound tickets every week for the season put more bums on seats then £30 with the occasional 10 pound offer
posting about grace hung made me realise that chien Lee is still our majority shareholder. That’s wild
