I was one of Vic’s biggest supporters when he was with us - just felt he occupied defenders to the benefit of other players ….. but …… Just seen some Bolton fans comparing him to Toney, better strike rate than Haaland etc. Honest player, plenty of effort, good luck to him.
What a strange move. He had found a club which suited him, where he was a first team regular, and where he was enjoying his best football in years. And walked within half a season. For a club in the same division, where he might quickly find he is back to his BFC position, not starting every week and out in the cold. Unless Burton forced the move or he is due a large wage reduction on relegation, I don't get it.
If Vic is the best Bolton can do they're not going up. You heard it here first. And for what its worth if I'm wrong I wont be baring my bottom in front of the town hall...
The player who inspired the phrase "the lad's a trier" Could never fault his effort, and he's a better player than many we've seen since, but effort only gets you so far. I hope I'm completely wrong, 'cos he seems a genuinely nice kid and I'd be made up for him if he did well.
Seen him described as a "real statement signing" on Twitter I loved big Vic but not sure what statement they're making by signing him
Not sure about some of the negativity about him on this thread. Big Vic is better than anything we have at the club now. He wasn’t great last season but who was? I couldn’t believe we didn’t do more to keep him for this division. He’d have been great in this team under Duff. He always looked made for league one. Him and Jerome for Bolton? Compared to us with Norwood and Aitchison/cole with Watters to get fit and possibly Oli Shaw - none of them get in Bolton’s team let’s be honest. Some folk are a bit salty.
He’s a half decent L1 signing, I’ll give you that. Another Ivan Toney he definitely isn’t. To be honest though I think Jerome may turn out to be the better signing.
We offered him an improved deal to remain. He turned it down. I don’t blame him at all. He wanted to go and play regularly as a number 9. He might have been given that chance here, but I don’t fault him. And he’s gone and proved that he’s capable so far this season. Can’t knock him going to Bolton either. Big jump in salary, secure for the next few years, bigger club than us, never mind Burton. Absolute example of someone backing themselves. And he’s a golden human being. Professional, gave 100% in everything asked of him. As I’ve said to him already - I hope he’s useless for the rest of the season! And FWIW, I think we’ve enough quality up front for the rest of this season. Particularly with Tedic and Thomas back fit. A number of options now. And ability to alter shape etc. Don’t know why folk feel a need to either criticise Victor or criticise our current forwards. Way of the world though I suppose. Everyone’s an expert!
He'll be on loads more at Bolton, I think majority of players in our league would have taken that move
He is playing for one of our promotion rivals, where the end prize of promotion has millions of pounds at stake and with us being skint promotion this time is even more important. If he doesn't score again this season I will be delighted.
What a very strange last comment. Why is everyone acting like we're a really bad team? As though we're not in the play offs?
‘enough quality upfront’, have you seen a different Tedic to the rest of us? The kid has failed to register a goal for us all season… you can’t say you’ve seen different.
