It was more like going to the Colosseum than Oakwell. Those on display getting injured in battle then being carted off. The ref saw enough of it and blew up before we ran out of Christians.
Red Kit Team 2 (Norwood2) v Black Kit Team 2 (Trialist - Charlie Wellens and Norwood). A good run out in front of an appreciative crowd. Serious looking injury to Matty Wolfe unfortunately, hope it's not as bad as it seemed, and niggly-looking ones for Mads, Marsh and Cole. These things happen and all were of a nature that could have happened in any training session. Imho the event was nothing short of a triumph - the access was smooth, the catering as advertised and the players seemed genuinely pleased to engage with young fans at the end, especially Norwood, Cadden, Philips, Connell, Watters and the 'keepers. There will be quite a few fans for life from this morning I have no doubt. There was a little speech from Khaled at the start and then some words from Michael Duff which as usual hit the spot just right and had me thinking just how lucky we are to have him again. Then to the game and it was good to see the new lads who are certainly in need of those types of run outs, a couple of trialists and some of our younger lads pitting their wits against the first-teamers. Norwood looked sharp and I certainly enjoyed seeing that Brian Potter/Barry Cotter is very pacy. All in all I'd say a successful morning and credit to the staff at the club who put it on at short notice. Fingers crossed for Matty Wolfe.
Sounds like a great event & shows the Club does care. I hope non of the injuries are took bad, Wolfe's sounds to be the worst. Great puns & discussions on here too. Good work BFC!
I'm just glad people have had a chance to engage with the club and some new fans have had a chance to see what it's all about and why we all love it so much. Well done the club. Injuries happen. It's a win, win for me. You could get up and go downstairs to make a brew and slip on a dog turd. 5 hit happens.
