I actually think it's difficult judging keepers from before and after the change to the back-pass rule. I would hazard a guess that it's only relatively recently that the kicking of a moving ball was added to a goalkeeper's skill-set.
no you have compared them to the best keepers in our history and by that metric have decided Collins isn’t good enough. We have had a lot of run of the mill keepers at Championship level that Collins is a match for. I don’t think that Collins is on the top 5 of keepers that I’ve seen play for us at Championship level but I have seen him perform over a reasonable period to an acceptable standard. Collins has excellent distribution. Makes key decisions well. Was easily our best player last season. He is an excellent shop stopper and a fantastic sweeper keeper able to watch the game and make decisions quickly that enable us to press hard when required.
Mine too. I remain convinced that without that injury he would have had a long career at the top level.
By stating his attributes rather than played in the championship. We went down. Walton kept us up. And he had a lot to do, Should I base it on that. ?
Well. ill agree to disagree. Will that do you. Seeing as you can read my mind. Apparently. Excellent shot stopper I wholeheartedly disagree. Imo ie.
Collins is miles better and still young, if we're confident we can keep him I'd accept a half decent bid for Walton.
Keepers around England squad at time: Seaman, Flowers, Martin, James & Walker, for me he was as good as Walker if not better but the others were better added to that goalkeepers rarely get promoted to International recognition when playing for a relegation candidate. If he hadn’t got injured and had moved I agree he had the potential to be right up there.
Yes To me if a player doesn't look out of place or plays better in the division they're in , then they're at that level.
I can’t read your mind but I can read the words you posted. Next up Collins isn’t a decent Championship level as he isn’t as good as Pickford, Ramsey or Allyson
Good move for Jack in the short and long term. In the short term, better Side in a higher Division challenging for the Play Offs. In the longer term, bigger Club, loads of ambition and about to ‘do a Brighton’ (imo) with a ground move that will push them back towards the top Division. Good luck to the lad. Not quite sure where that leaves us at season end if we don’t go up because if Collins has any ambition at all, he has to get away sharpish.
Less games than Walton. Same season. But it still doesn't alter my opinion. We played a game that suited a far better outfield. (Dyke playing a major part same time as Collins entered the side.) during playing a pressing game. That meant far lesser pressure on our defence. Being pedantic 5th. Seems more people have a problem with my opinion. Than the subject Which differs. Than sticking to their own. Its not going to change so why don't people get over it.,
They got a shock yesterday when their sprinklers popped up spraying water while the match was in progress
Was his bad back due to the amounts of time picking the ball up out of the net. Wasn't great under Hodges I'm trying to blank that from my memory.
That's fine. I really don't have a problem with that point of view. it is yours. ( I respect the fact that you seem to respect mine even if we disagree). And I genuinely hope BOTH go on to greater things. But it seems a couple or so seem to know my own mind. Eg I quoted the players I did because they were imho championship standard and a couple even better. (Their careers far exceed these 2 ) Not because they are the best to play for Barnsley which just happens to be an aside. I'd honestly struggle to name many weaker than better.
