Saw this last year, in fact I think it was from someone linking it on here. I'm not fan either but this is a lovely song. And I like him as a bloke too. Very self aware

On a similar note, my daughter introduced me to this song.
Ben Platt is famous for "Dear Evan Hansen"
I still struggle to listen to this.

He's hilariously self deprecating. Really funny.

Probably 12 years since I heard this but the OP reminded me of it.

People don't give James blunt anywhere near the credit that he deserves and I'm not sure why that is. Perhaps it's a combination of a sense of resentment against him from how often we were forced to listen to you're beautiful when he first became famous and a feeling that due to his poshness it meant we didn't believe he was sincere with what he sang. Such a shame because the words in his songs have so much meaning and if people take the time to truly hear them they are so very powerful.

Goodbye my lover, carry you home, if time is all I have, no bravery, so far gone, same mistake and of course monsters are all beautifully written and extremely emotional.

Does he write his own music, mate? I know he did Monsters. No idea on the rest. Can't argue with your assessment on some of his lyrics.

Because it’s trendy to not like certain artists.
I’d agree, James Blunt has had some very good songs.
I know people who scoff at Abba. Whilst I accept that “pop” isn’t everyones cup of tea, you just can’t deny the musical ability of the members. Same with Musical theatre - not for everyone, but some of those composers are brilliant musicians.
Jazz is really not my cup of tea, but I would never question the abilities of the performers.

Yes he does, a lot of them were written jointly with the same person (who's name I forget) but I believe he wrote some while actually serving in Kosovo

Completely agree. I don't care what genre it is. If someone is talented then they're talented, doesn't matter if I personally like it or not. And on the flip side I don't care who sings a song or if they can play an instrument. If I like how it sounds then I like how it sounds. I don't understand people who simply refuse to acknowledge a song can be good if the singer isn't playing bass guitar

James Blunt isn't really my bag, but I get where you are coming from sir. The message in this is certainly powerful. Still got my Dad, but we are slowly losing him to dementia. We have finally signed up to get him in the care home in Leeds from next Friday. Lovely place. Lost my Mum last year, who was my rock. Peace.
