No way were we awful after the 15 minute mark. After 65/70, I'd agree. Surely you don't think we were awful for all that?
not a great performance, but it's a win away and there's a shed load of room for improvement. people always say good teams find a way to pick up points even when they're poor. other people bairn about it. they're often Sheffield Wednesday fans.
Yeah definitely a poor performance from him, usually very composed. He did better the last couple of times he had to deal with it, but on the whole, dodgy night!
Difficult watch last 30 mins , going to the corner with 10 minutes to play drives me crackers , but it’s all about the points
It’s not a case of being happy or not, of course it’s frustrating as fek when you’re hanging on in a game you were comfortably winning. We need more nous and cut the naivety out that causes the panic stations that we’ve seen in the second half. The big positive is that we won, and in my case, a game I thought we’d lose 2-0 as per my predictions in the associated thread.
If we are going to do it, be bloody careful. Referee was clearly after Kane as he decided to go be ball boy. One step wrong it's a red and suspension. Connell. Booked for kicking the ball away. These bookings add up. And you can guarantee he will end up suspended at a crucial time because he was a dick booting the ball 50 years away. I'm a total advocate for referees booking every single thing that happens. I'm sick of games being ruined cos of it. And Collins if I was to take my stance would get a red every other game. Compare the first 15 minute's to the last 15. Absolute world's apart
I had the Oxford comms on in the 2nd half (wish I hadn't bothered), and what was encouraging is that they overheard a member of our backroom staff saying at half time that we weren't at the races. So even in the first half when we were largely comfortable and had a goal lead, our management team weren't satisfied with the performance. It's assuring to know that Duff and his team are aware there's much more work to be done.
I don't disagree mate. That's one thing I wouldn't want, regardless of if other teams do it, kicking the ball away. Absolutely pointless card to get. Martin's yellow for instance, kicked the ball away, time wasting, he kicked it about 4 foot. If you're willing to pick up a yellow, at least boot the *******.
Think the narrowness of the win showed the limitations of our forwards. They certainly don’t lack effort but composure is lacking at times. A possibly lucky win in the end but who cares.
Think on another day Norwood would have scored one of his chances (in fact, I'd say 9 times out of 10 he'd score the one in second half), certainly would have scored Cole's. As you say though, can't fault their effort. I think a start for Watters is on the cards against Portsmouth. Although maybe Duff will say never change a winning side... Lack of midfield options from bench is a real problem at the minute though
You're right but it also shows just how gash our goalkeeping has been this season. The percentage of on target shots that find the back our net is frightening. Must be one of the worst in the football league
Haha I know it’s a “turn of phrase” used for players, but fans are not players. These commentators need to stop reiterating copycat nonsense and actually think about what they are saying. It’s embarrassing.
Alternatively, shows how good our defence has been with lack of shots on goal? One bad game doesn't change anything. He's made mistakes this season but he's one of the best keepers in the league.
Not really. A low number of shots on target reflects well on the defence. A high number of those shots resulting in a goal makes the keeper look awful frankly. If I was an opposition manager I'd be telling my players to take pot shots whenever possible because every second shot on target goes past Collins and has consistently for months now
I thought Norwood was very good, but Cole was generally awful. Watters got in some good positions after he came on but was clearly not match fit. And as for Ricky Martin.
Sounds like Collins been playing with a slight injury that’s been made worse during the game. Which probably does explain the keeper movements over last couple of days.
