Depends on whether Duff feels Norwood is ready to start after his injury. Sounded like he wanted to ease him back in. Given the apparent state of the pitch at Vale Park, he could start with Shaw and go more direct
Norwood and Cole. Can't belive people are suggesting dropping Cole after yesterday he had a really good game involved in the goal and still top scorer. I really don't understand the negatively when the team was named yesterday on socials comments like Cole again etc and criticising duffs selection. And people suggesting Shaw the blokes spl record is hardly great I can't see him coming and scoring loads in league one.
Based on what? Swap our current top scorer and a player who played really well for a player who scored 0 in 12 in the spl. Scored a few in the Scottish championship but I'd fancy myself to score in the Scottish championship.
For sure Cole has to start the only question is Norwoods fitness So either Norwood or Shaw to start alongside Cole But whichever 2 start I’d expect the other to come on for at least 30 mins. Watters stupidity has given us a problem especially as Aitcheson has gone
Not sure where you coming from mate.....in another thread you slagging off our forwards without even seeing them play next to no games.... and now you dropping Cole after he had a great game yesterday!.....glad Duff manager and not you lol!....granted Cole been poor recently but you can’t drop him after way he played and grafted yesterday.......
I'll throw in a curve ball. Russell up front or just behind Cole and/or Norwood may be a good fit. I certainly think he'll be a regular starter.
Based on the fact I don’t rate Cole. In fairness he has played probably as well as he can this season and kudos to both Duff and Devante for that but he’s not at the level required for a top 6 team. 8 in 30 games. No goals for 2 months. Shaw I have no idea about but would like to see him given a go
i didn’t slag anyone off. That’s merely your incorrect interpretation. I said that based on past record that we have not noticeably strengthened our forwards. I also said that we could only really form a concrete opinion when we have seen them play for us. As for Cole. I just don’t rate him. 8 goals in 30 odd games. Unlike you I don’t judge people on individual games. Cole often goes missing and loses the ball too easily. Add no goals in 2 months to the mix and new forwards to be given a chance then yeah it’s time for a change.
To be fair it's 7 goals in 28 league games and Norwood 6 in 25. Which neither have scored enough. If we had kept the likes of morris or vic from last season we would have scored more. But cole played really well at the weekend and some peoples motm if he was to be dropped after that it would be poor management.
Not a big fan of Cole but his performance on Saturday warrants continued selection. So him and Norwood I’d go for, Shaw to come on during the second half. I certainly wouldn’t drop Cole. However the pitch is rumoured to be awful at Vale Park and we have a lot of big games coming up so Duff may decide not to start him - or may have done had Watters not got himself banned.
It’s all about service, look a Haaland best striker in world and City not putting any passes his way these last few games ,result no goals for him,if you don’t get the pass ,you can’t score a goal
8 goals in 33 games so roughly 1 in 4 in a side near the top of the table who win the majority of games. Norwood has struggled with fitness at times but looks more of a constant threat. I don’t think Cole played like Mo Salah on Saturday. He put effort in and held the ball up slightly better than usual but wasn’t really a goal threat. But this question was about my specific preference which would be to use Cole as an impact sub but rarely start him. 0 goals in 2 months isn’t good enough imo. Duff feels that Cole has a role to play and is getting the best out of him so (and he knows a lot more than me) who do I think will start Cole and Norwood. That’s a different question to who do I want to start.
Cole has done better this season than any of us expected but he really isn’t good enough for a side aiming for the playoffs. He gets knocked off the ball too easily for a big lad and loses possession too easily. He deserves to start at present due to Shaw being an unknown and probably not being up to speed fitness wise yet. Watters’ stupidity has cost us for the next three games and Norwood still has fitness issues. If Cole is still a first choice pick by the middle of March then he’ll either have suddenly hit form or our January recruitment will be looking like a failure.
