But if the club had more competitive prices at catering, more fans would purchase stuff. I haven't purchase anything in the ground now for the last few seasons, but before that always did. The rip off prices and super long queues put me off.
But isn't that like saying going in a pub. Paying £4 a pint and telling em to sell stuff not much above cost. all overheads etc have to be considered. Or go to wetherspoons instead. (Where they may reduce costs to attract more customers or close, chose the latter on lots of pubs) There are far worse than Barnsley believe me. Supply and demand. Catering staff hard to get hold of. As it is. As for cheaper b4. You are probably right but you have to factor in costs may have doubled so profit (not in real terms) may have doubled. Tbh I dont remember many grounds that I thought charged a fair price.
You sure you didn’t read it wrong and it was advertised as ‘getting worse’? Saw this on Facebook earlier:
£2.60 for a bottle of out of date pop is something that shouldn't be happening. Like music being played in the concourses when we are having a silence out of respect for a disaster.
The club doesn't charge any more than other grounds from what I can see. It's the going rate. The problem is that we offer a much poorer service than most other clubs. With the prices we charge they simply have to be making a good profit on it that there's no excuse for not having the staffing numbers in place to adequately cope with the demand for products.
Wow even by our standards that's impressive when you consider the life that comes on a bottle of pop from manufacturer. Either they're buying it from a discount wholesaler out of date or their stock rotation is piss poor.
I’d go with the second one although the op did say this has happened 3 or 4 times over the last few months. I reckon they just chuck the new stuff at the front and they’ve got through to some further back that’s been sat there forever.
I would generally agree with you but we've all seen how they sell out of drinks regularly so how have they managed to bury some for so long. The two photos are taken at different games so they're obviously right that it happens regularly too. If they are just not rotating stock at all and not checking dates that's quite worrying because this pop has a best before date but some things they sell have a use by
£4 a pint in a nice warm pub. Comfy seat. Nice surroundings. Quick and friendly server. At Oakwell it's £5 for a pint of Madri in a plastic pint cup to stand in a cold concourse looking at breeze blocks.
there's an old guy in a cloth cap on the right in the caption - you don't see many of them these days - wonder if he had his whippet with him ? When they brought sell-by dates out in the 70's ?? my old granny thought that stuff couldn't be used BEFORE that date. to go o/t - after yesterday's match called in at the Kingstone Co op for a couple of sandwiches - cost £6.50 but if I bought three sandwiches cost was £4.50. Anyone want a spare cheese and ham sarnie ?
I did mention the service The only issue anyone should have is service. How many pubs have to cater for a mad rush that everyone wants serving within a window of 10 minutes for example at half time. The price is also reflective of that or it wouldn't be worth the effort. Before the game most dont enter the ground more than half hr before ko. Staff will get paid for around 3hrs I'd say. Try getting served in spoons within ten minutes. When 2 busloads roll up at once. Unless you run. You put too much emphasis on the price rather than the cost.
Wetherspoons you get served really quickly through the app to your table, which is something else our club don't have
Not if you're in the pub next door. Or the wrong wetherspoons lol. (Which genuinely has happened) Mate with the first one. In london. Us with the second. Mi great nephew got staff discount on meals. So we phoned him to order at the silkstone. Waited a while rang him again. Daft chuff ordered at Brammahs. Had to make a hasty run. Beer on bar. Meals been round pub, waiter looking for us lol.
I'd say it shouldn't be offered if not advertised as out of sell by date. But is legal. Supermarkets bang em on the clearance or reduced price shelves. (My favorite shelf lol). But found this. which didn't surprise me. but how many would chuck it out after said date and how long after. ?. Me I'd taste it and if it was flat. Chuck it.
