I thought there was a hint of offside When he shot i think it was Anderson (could be wrong) who looked offside and was in front of the keepers eyeline of the shot Did anyone else thimk same?
I think their keeper thought so. He was remonstrating with the referee after the whistle for full time.
Desperation from their keeper. He's seen that all the way and just not got to it. I don't even think Andersen is in line with him.
For someone who couldn't see the ball he did a cracking job of diving to the exact place it went to but found the ball just out of his reach.
Who cares. We have had some shocking offside decisions against us this season so balancing the books works for me. **** em
I had a perfect view - directly in line - from my seat in the Ponty and I can say with absolute certainty that the goal was NOT offside.
Another example of the stupid way offside is applied these days. I'm with the late Brian Clough on this, if a player isn't interfering with play, what the eff is he doing on the pitch? Bring back the old rule but only apply it in the final 1/3 of the pitch. Stops the Arsenal halfway line offsides and gives the linesman less area to adjudicate on. Then everyone knows whether a player is offside or not. I think I've said this before sorry for banging on about it.
Both probably said something similar but I remember Cloughy saying it. Shanks was most famous for saying that football isn't life or death, it's more important than that.
I think Shankly was most famous for taking liverpool from 2nd division obscurity to European greatness. He had a very dry humour and made many witty comments like the one you mentioned. Clough would have liked that offside comment from Shankly I bet, but I don't reckon he'd have copied him. Clough's more outspoken time came after Shankly had handed over to Bob paisley in 74.
At the time I thought they may have had a case. But looking at the footage it’s not clear that anyone is offside, never mind interfering with day. And seen as the officiating team had a massive hard on for the opposition for the other 89 minutes I’ll bloody well take it!
Did you really think the ref was against us for most of the match? I thought he was decent and fair to be honest. Only thing I didn't agree with was norwoods booking but I didn't have a clear view of it
