Sorry if anyone mentioned this but how good are we at seeing games out when in a winning position Shithousery at times but how many seasons have we said we are too soft and other teams take the piss out of us ( delaying play , pinched a few yards at throw ins and throwing themselves down to win cheap free kicks) I think we can all agree it’s cringe worthy at times but keep it coming for me . Playing by the rules didn’t get us anywhere in previous seasons. I do believe duff his the best manager we have had for some years
Every time we have been leading at half time we’ve gone on to win this season home or away. Which is quite impressive. Just not so good at coming from behind. Only managed a couple of draws from losing positions
Thing is, Dave, a couple of years ago, we won a few games under Valerien Ismael after going behind. You then had complaints that we shouldn't be going behind in the first place, so it wasn't something to see as a strength.
Port vale at home. ? As for seeing out games there has been a vast improvement over the last 2 wins. Where we have taken the game to the opponents with longer periods to go than in some prior games. The fleetwood and oxford games spring to mind.
I thought Liam Kitching had put us in front before Vale's late equaliser? The two I thought of were Portsmouth away and Ipswich away, where we did it twice.
Yes mate he did 1st half which is why I questioned Farnham. 'Every time we have been leading at half time we’ve gone on to win this season home or away.' ?
Been there. done that. What pleased me last night was (admittedly 2 goals in front) we carried on creating chances instead of shutting up shop. With both Tedic and Shaw trying to get on the scoresheet.
When we're in front, we're able to sit that bit deeper and absorb pressure a bit more. We've come undone a lot this season when we've played a high line, and been caught by the ball over the top. We tend to fair better when we can get bodies behind the ball. Port Vale had 15 shots the other night, 7 of which were blocked by defenders. I'm not suggesting we go a goal up, and then put 11 men behind the ball, but we find a way to make it difficult for the opponent to break us down when we do go ahead. Plan A hasn't been the problem this season, it's plan B when we go behind which has often been lacking.
