The only vague memory I have of him is a very dubious dive for a penalty in front of the away end which owing to his size and lack of speed made it look comical:D

Wasn't he a lightweight winger, similar to Martin Bullock ?. :)

About as mobile as Tyne Bridge and had the turning circle of the Ark Royal. Didn't he score a hat trick at Hull? Or was that another crap player from the same era?

Aye, course it was, silly me. Too many G&Ts. Did the wonderous Willy ever notch for us? If he did, I certainly didn't see it...

Is my memory of the Dodgy dive for a pen in a home game correct or am I mistaken?

From the brief word I had with him, two years ago, he certainly enjoyed his time at Oakwell and paid particular tribute to Barry Murphy. He was injured fairly early in his time with us at Sunderland and never really got going after that.

The lowest scoring card on BFC top trumps. If you bought it, you get it.

Ahh that famous Ian Chandler hat trick away at Hullferry park, on new years day '87. And the winning goal from Andy Duggan in stoppage time, who on here went to that match ?. ;)

Ha! I made them and only put him in as a laugh, so that when I played with them with my kids, they could have a card to groan at.

I can’t be bothered to fight my way through all the cardboard boxes in the basement to check the programme, but I seem to recall his first game at Oakwell was in one of the England schoolboy games in the early 80s. Either that or I’ve seen his name mentioned in an England schoolboy line up somewhere.
