Bit a mix of all sorts. YTV soundtrack stuff, Love, Yo La Tengo, Grace Jones, A Whiter Shade of Pale, but not the one you know, although it was recorded the year after ('68) by King Curtis & some largely unheard stuff... all over the place. BBS shout out too.

Only one track that I'd heard before, plus two more that I was familiar with in different forms. It's not often I listen to radio shows these days, but yours had a nice feel to it - made me nostalgic for the times I spent listening to John Peel in the 70s.
With exception of the final track, everything hit the spot. Take that out and add a bit of Bill Nelson* and it's perfect.
Well done, mate. It's clearly a labour of love.

* I suggest Flipside - track 3 from his album After The Satellite Sings.

 

Cheers mate. Yes the Amon Ra track at the end is a bit out there... hence me putting it as the last track... pretty hard to follow that with anything.

I love that Bill Nelson track. That will actually fits in well with next month's show, as that one is going in a slightly different direction, as there will be an interview with a chap called Nick Cody, who has a bunch of bands / musical projects. He happens to be a big Bill Nelson fan.

 

On the Withnail soundtrack. Yo La Tengo are great..

 

One of my favourite bands. Superb live. I've seen them 3 times. Twice in Leeds & once at ATP, opening up for Television...

Yeah that ATP at Rye on Sea, Pontins was blinding. I went two years running. I actually played table tennis with two members of Stereolab too!

...and for a bit of balance I enjoyed the last track - you can't beat a bit of brass

 

First saw Bebop at the Dearne Hotel, Bolton on Dearne in 1975, cost 10p to get in when normally it was only 5p. Me and my mate stood outside counting our pennies, we went in but could only afford half a bitter each and no crisps….

 

I bet it was worth the sacrifice.

 

Aye, they were brilliant, saw them a couple of years after at Hammersmith Odeon. Excellent band.

 

I saw Matthew E White at the Brudenell Social. Was about 5 years ago. I hadn't heard the latest one with Flo Morrissey. Vinyl Tap had a stall selling brand new LPs for a fiver, so thought it was worth a punt. There's some decent covers on it. Not my favourite of his, but still very good.
