Looking at the highlights definitely onside. Can't belive such fuss and the ref who was stood miles away trying to change the lines decision. What a carry on.
Looking at the Derby fans comments. I reckon they need specs. Complaining the ref overruled the linesman. Bo11ox. He didn't even raise his flag. The ref imo was just confirming the right decision was made.
I'll be honest I was confused by the whole thing. I didn't see the lino put his flag up at all. it looked like the ref gave it, then disallowed it, then gave it again, judging by players' reactions. can't be sure though.
It was right in front of me. It was given, then the ref and lino had a brief conversation, the lino put his flag up, then another conversation, took it down again and the ref pointed to signal it was given. Absolutely no idea what went on there.
We cheered whilst they were silent - they cheered whilst we fell silent - we cheered & they didn’t! Who cheers last, cheers loudest - a clear goal
Was very strange. Warne in his interview said it was offside but came of a defender but in the replay it wasn't offside at all. The keeper and Derby defenders reactions were crazy to say it was clearly onside.
I’ve watched it over and over and still can’t see where it’s come off their defender. Looks to be a clear phillips shot to me, which Cole taps in on the line. I don’t think Cole was offside though.
If only the assistant referee had some sort of prop in his hand which he could use to indicate that he thinks it’s offside
Doesn't look offside at all to me the defender to his left clearly playing him on but I suppose you have to try influence decisions and they almost did.
Worst bit of refereeing all day. How their keeper wasn't booked for kicking off at the linesman for so long will always be a mystery
Watched it back several times and can't see any reason why they should think any Barnsley player was offside only mystery is why the keeper had a paddy and why the ref took any notice. Must be the usual little old Barnsley can't score against a big club like Derby without there being a foul or offside involved.
But the ref’s immediate reaction to the ball going in is to point to the centre circle, giving the goal.
Funnily enough I have the opposite view on the first goal, that Phillips mis-kicked it completely and it was going well wide, towards the corner flag, but the defender coming up behind him put it in his own net. Or would have done had Cole not tapped it in. If you play it back at 0.5 speed it's pretty clear to me at least.
maybe you're right. looked at it 100 times and thought it looked like Phillips' shot, but you might be right. either way though, it's not offside. it's either come off their player, so it can't be offside. or it's come off Phillips and Cole is still being played on by forsyth.
He definitely did raise his flag. I saw it with my own sober eyes. Edit - I’ve just reread your post.
Derby player (#12) takes the throw back to his team mate (#3) in the right back position. #3 attempts to clear the ball up field but it deflects off Cole to Norwood who miscontrols it with two touches allowing another Derby defender (#6) to slide in with a tackle directing back to #3 who failed with the original clearance. #3 out does his original error and puts in a cross for the onrushing Phillips. However, Derby defender #4 beats Phillips to the ball, plays it on to Derby defender (unknown number) who cooly slots it past his own keeper, eluding the outstretched leg of Cole in his desperate but failed attempt to get the final touch. Cole claims it anyway, as does Phillips who never actually touched the ball. It's an epic own goal from Derby's own throw, involving five of their players with our only involvement a deflection off Cole and two miscontrolled touches by Norwood.
