're. Racist/homophobic/sexist chanting from the south stand? What on earth were you lot singing that upset the announcer?
There was a brief IRA/Leeds scum chant, about 50 people max that lasted 20 seconds. That’s all I can think they meant.
It came after the "We all hate Leeds scum" chant. No idea what's racist or homophobic in that. Maybe "Your dad's a scab,' is sexist because it excludes women.
they've been singing the song for literally decades though, so it felt a bit odd that they singled it out on Saturday. maybe someone specifically complained, so they had to do summat about it? dunno. fwiw it's a $hit chant. just like 'your dad's a scab and so are you' and the even worse one about Sutcliffe. they're embarrassing. we're in desperate need of some new material.
Stupid thing is that they have absolutely no idea what they are singing about or the issues involved. Bless ‘em.
That's what annoys me. These kids and young folk who sing about certain stuff, scab stuff especially, haven't a clue what theyre actually chanting
Think when we got fined for apparently not doing enough to combat such chants that cause offence. Re the lady physio for example. They were in effect covering their arses. Edit just seen Gally's response. Which is on the same theme.
We got fined for sectarian chanting when we played Stoke and McLean was playing for them and objects were thrown at him when they scored.
Don't remember objects thrown tbh. But I reckon we were singled out on that one. As our game if i remember rightly. Was around the time of armistice. Which highlighted the fact he wouldn't wear the poppy. But other clubs fans certainly gave him grief. We have also been fined this season as Gally says.
Yeah it was when they scored a bottle was thrown in his direction if I remember right. I don't really care if he doesn't wear a poppy that's his choice matic used to refuse to wear one and never got the abuse. I think McLean brings alot on himself though with how he is.
I was watching the game on ifollow this morning. I heard the "red suspenders" song clearly. Why people still need f***ing telling that song is unacceptable is beyond me but sadly it seems they do. When are they EVER going to grow up?
Daft thing with "your dads a scab" it is really lost on me. Most of the Derbyshire miners weren't. (Those b'stds in the notts coalfield that formed or joined the udm cajoled some of the Derbyshire miners to join as well) . Some may have drifted back earlier than Yorkshire. But if that's the criteria lots of yorkshire miners were scabs as well. When I got transferred to Wooley westside cpp along with 3 others we were gobsmacked at how many had indeed scabbed shall we say, even at the pit in the last couple of weeks or so. Which helped lead to our downfall. And the end of the strike. And to add. at our prior workplace. Fence workshops. Only 60 of us out of a 200 workforce stuck it out fully till the end and went in under the banner.
Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire - all the same to the plebs who chant it. Don't suppose any of them are top of the class in Geography at school.
