And being at the game yesterday with the wife (who’s a Blackburn fan, well before she met my Dad anyway and now she loves BFC) I’ve decided to reignite my idea and add it to what I wanted to do anyway. In the next few months I want to get the Eric Winstanley Foundation up and running with Golf Days with ex players, a Barnsley schools Football Tournament and other fundraising to help support underfunded sports programmes in the Barnsley region. So my idea is thus. Im a huge NFL fan and watch loads of games every season. I’m a massive Pittsburgh Steelers fan and they have something called a Terrible Towel, and I’ve got a few at home. Every fan has one in the stadium and they cost around £5-10. When there’s a big moment in the game the entire crowd wave them above their heads creating a brilliant atmosphere. They’re easy to carry around. I’ve never been a scarf wearer because they’re basically a pain in the arse to carry around unless you put it around your neck. Here’s a mock up of what I’m suggesting. https://ibb.co/ZSPW01X All profits would go to supporting Barnsley sport as per the above. This is the Steelers towel at a game. . I’m not sure @YTBFC if the club would support etc. I’m happy to pay to get some printed etc.
Sheffield Steelers sell something similar. Slightly smaller, but the same principle. People usually swing them around during the pre-match introductions and goals. I'm up for anything that improves the atmosphere!
I'm sure we would support. Told you before, office door always open. If you want to come down and chat to Khaled and/or Jon I'm sure they'd be interested. You have all my details!
Why did the Pittsburgh Steelers do towels out of interest? Good luck with the foundation, it sounds like it's going to be a great legacy once its up and running.
Whilst it was noticable from where I sit. The ponty seemed to be in the main holding their scarves aloft stretched out as in you'll never walk alone fashion. Whilst most around me in the east were twirling theirs as in your video. Go for it mate. as whitey says. No harm in asking. Terrible Towel though. hope you can come up with a better name mate. Eg Twirly Whirley Winstanley al get mi coit.
Not for me, scarves are more traditional. Now if you want to do something in the style of a Green Bay cheesehead but based on a Percy Turner's then I'd be interested.
I like this idea from USA. Once a year. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...toy-donation.html?ito=email_share_article-top
One request though Terry - can we change the name? I've always thought the Steelers ones sounded like soiled sanitary products.
They just did this in Turkey for kids who survived the earhquake https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-europe-64783651
