That’s a weird post. If you’re unhappy at players leaving for better Clubs and to further their careers, you might be supporting the wrong Club. A list of the ‘snakes’ would include: Tommy Taylor, Danny Blanchflower, Ronnie Galvin, Mick McCarthy, David Hirst, Ashley Ward, Craig Hignett, John Stones ……and a thousand more. Imo Hourihane was one of the best players I’ve seen at this Club. Outstanding.
I think you've got the wrong end of the stick there I fully understand stand players come and players go if someone offered me pot loads of cash to go play for them I would be off too what I find strange is two players leave at roughly the same time and both played a pivotal part in a fantastic recent history but one vilified and the others is a legend. Some may say one was to Wednesday but if they were the club offering them the most money they wouldn't go I don't think so.
Have to pick you up one one thing mate. Ronnie didn’t leave for a better club and to further his career. He went to Belenenses in Portugal at the age of 33 (when I think his knees may have been starting to trouble him), came back for a few games before moving to Stockport, Cowdenbeath and then the US. Don’t think any of those clubs are bigger or better, at the risk of sounding all Wednesday.
Then, if that’s what you think, fair enough but shouldn’t you be having a pop at the support rather than Hourihane.
I clapped when his name was read out that’s it when game started.. he might as well have been called joe bloggs he got the same stick from me any others player would have! Thought it was brilliant when he was hooked off
Were fans really calling him a tanker and a merchant banker ?. I think that's a good point though about his and Winnall's departures, it seems that there's always a worse reaction when it involves Sheff Wensdy.
Good player for us but Saturday I thought he was poor even his set pieces wouldn't like to think we were paying him all what Derby are to play league 1 football.
Not a club legend for me, there are few in my lifetime that I saw play - Glavin, Mick McCarthy, Redfearn, Hammill, Hassell, de Zeeuw.....Shotton. Think we have to be a bit more selective with the term "legend". I'd put Brian Howard above Hourihane, for example, similar games played, goals scored, etc.
For a abuse I think we have to look at another possible reds legend. Adam Hamill. Everytime he played against us in between his 2 stints. ' Only one greedy b'std' was the norm. At Huddersfield he even conducted it. Funny how it changed to 'Adam Hamill is a red' on his return lol.
You have to take into account the timing of the announcement when he signed for em. Re Rimmo. It rankles with quite a few.
Surely it wasn't Winnall's fault though, and I'm sure he didn't pick that day especially. And as for his reaction when he scored against us at Oakwell, well I can just imagine the stick he was getting lol.
Think they tried lay the blame at the agents door. But it was ill timed. But the pepa pig thrown on the pitch although frowned upon was so funny. That's why he went on that run I believe. Thought about it for a while then clapped barnsley fans. At some stage.
Ahh yeah there was a picture of the pig thing on here recently lol. There was a lot of naive stuff said as well, that Connor left in the so called 'right' way and at least he joined the so called 'right' club. What!!!.
