Had the expected notification from Virgin Media that my Broadband bill is to rise by £7 a month in the first instance then by inflation plus. We have stuck with Virgin Media for the speeds we get but getting really pricey now. Has anyone out there a reasonable price recommendation for good speed broadband that rarely breaks down? That's it really

I’m with talk talk. I know they get some bad press because of dodgy customer service. But I have no issues with them. Never once lost connected in past 4 years. Their router is probably the best free isp router and I only pay £23 per month, fixed against any rises.

From a technical point of view, they are basically all the same (certainly the Openreach based providers which are most of the big boys except VM). So that comes down to cost and customer service. Also, most providers have clauses to put the price up by inflation plus 3 or 4% each year mid-contract. Remember the contract isn't a fixed price contract.

I’m with Virgin media, I got that email. Get in touch with them… I explained to them I was guaranteed no price increase in my contract. I eventually had all increases removed. Don’t just let them put price up, challenge it!

I've been with EE for going on for 3 years and never had an issue. Good speeds, and never drops out. Probably about as pricy as Virgin though.

Broadband should be nationalised (along with water, electricity, gas, buses and the railways), without compensation.

Yes I'd recommend broadband. Great for streaming football and bongo vids.
