HOW TO SWAP EAST STAND TICKETS TODAY Club News Supporters who hold tickets for the East Stand for this evening's game can now swap their ticket. Continue reading on the official site...
So we’re not going straight to turnstiles then? I’d assumed not but some got that impression. Best to clarify. It’s a shitty situation (and I know I’ve rewritten a whole song on another thread which implies I think otherwise) but I don’t blame the club too much here, it’s not like they planned this. They’ve lost a load of income and the costs of sorting this will be high, it’s just a nightmare all round.
It’s a nightmare, add on all the work they’ve done to build up the atmosphere for this to then happen, it’s a blow for everyone. On the other hand imagine if they ignored the issue and cladding came off during a game and injured/killed someone, the stand would be shut for the whole season, they’d be an enquiry, press would be all over it, manslaughter charges, the loss of life, loss of confidence in people to go back into the stand when it reopened etc Its a pain that it’s shut but it’s better than risking it, we’ve shut it at a financial loss because it’s the right thing to do, hats off to the club for doing the right thing.
The original statement contained the following paragraph which made it sound like you went to the turnstiles of your preferred stand, the turnstile operative would scan your season ticket like usual then give you a paper ticket for that stand. “If you would like to attend the game, bring your Season Ticket or Match Ticket prior to the game and receive your new match ticket from turnstiles. Supporters are advised to arrive in plenty of time as we anticipate delays.” It also had the following paragraph which made it sound like you had no choice of which stand you went in; “Can I choose my seat? No. Upon arrival your original ticket East Stand will be scanned and you will be allocated a ticket in either the South, North or West Stand. The Club will endeavour to keep parties together where possible.” Thankfully this statement has clarified any confusion.
Ticket swapping was quick and easy. As I speak there is still nobody queuing whatsoever. They managed to find me three together as well, though it took a few minutes. Plenty of pairs of tickets though. If you turn up in the next half hour or so there’s no way you’ll miss kick off. If you can’t get here til after that, you might still be ok.
