In my defence Scott, I started this thread (knowing he is banned he probs wouldn't be reading anyway) as a comparison of two players, not as a personal dig at Hemsy. I tried more than anyone to get him to see reason and post more sensibly - it never happened. This was a dig at an opinion, not at a person. He himself could be quite malicious if memory serves. I almost pleaded with Gally to allow him to stay on, prior to his (second) ban as I always had the feeling the behind his vindictiveness there was a decent knowledgable guy. at the time of his ramblings on Scarlett, I attempted to point out that IF Barnsley had money to burn, and IF we were in a position to sign 'one for the future' then aye, Scarlett could have been worth a punt. But we were (are) skint and needed to sign for the here and now. On a budget. And based on last nights showing, we got it right. Short term. Apologies if you don't like the post, but I would never knowingly have a pop at mental vulnerability. EDIT: It was also posted, live from the WSL, after the emotion of a superb third goal and the sight of Scarlett being subbed off after a listless performance. Apologies again if it was poor judgement on my part.
It's absolutely warranted in this case. An idiot posting personal bile at James Norwood deserves to be held accountable. And the fact that he has been reminded of this thread is brilliant. Hemsworth polluted this board for years posting personal abuse to Luke Steele, Bobby Hassell and his family, and now Norwood amongst others. I'm sure Scott will be able to tell his pal, and I hope he reminds him how brilliant Norwood has been.
Just fuming because Norwood performing well doesn't sit right with your and your friends agenda. Maybe angry at Duff being a success so far too?
Norwood is having a good season, McGoldrick is having an excellent season notching nearly 20 goals so far. That was posted when we were playing the 3-4-3 formation, we now use the 3-5-2 which works with the extra man in midfield; glad to see Duff checks this forum and noticed we were one dimensional previously. Next…..
So Norwood isn't bin juice as your friend said at the start of the season then? Also if you think Norwood and Mcgoldrick are in the same wage bracket and was ever a serious option for us to sign, you need a reality check.
I'm not sure taking the mick out of a bloke with a learning difficulty is the best idea. Not aiming this at anyone specific, just encouraging you to think about what you're doing/saying.
No, I’ve never said Norwood is a bad player, never said he was a bad signing; just thought at the time there was better freebies out there. He’s having a good season.
Was this after the Derby cup game when we were battered? Try and find a positive post from another member on that day other than cherry picking through mine maybe? Again, next…..
We all have opinions before the season starts and end up being proved wrong.. Hemmsys opinion was posted last July when we were all on a downer following a piss poor relegation season and the loss of Morris, Woodrow, Styles and Helik. I think you'll find quite a few posters saying we'd drop straight through into Lg2 but these posts will be lost in time as they should be. I honestly don't get the need for going back 8 months to prove a point. Hemmsy may well have changed his mind about Norwood and Scarlett but since he's banned anyway we'll never know.
Just proved your point wrong, you said you’ve never said Norwood was a bad player yet I show you evidence you’ve called him awful. When the evidence presents itself you can either accept what you’ve said or bury your head in the sand, I can see which option you’re choosing. I think this discussion has run its course so this will be the last I comment about it.
I'd like to back this up. I don't have an issue with the thread itself and I do think it was started with reasonable intentions and not to encourage vitriol aimed at an individual. Unfortunately it seems to be moving toward the latter. I'm no fan of Hemsworth. His take on so many things was blinkered and focused on negatives. And despite being encouraged to change he didn't. Or couldn't. Or wouldn't. But he's not here and not posting. Let's leave it alone and get behind our team, manager and club. No matter whether we agree about the quality of Norwood, Cole etc we are (in the words of Jo Cox) far more united and have far more in common with each other than things that divide us. Debate and disagreement is fine but we don't need to be bitter and snide.
Again though, as far as I can tell nobody has insulted him? Only his rubbish opinion on Norwood Never met the lad so wouldn't have a clue he had learning difficulties.
I took a break from this forum, New year to start of this season. I missed this crap & fck knows how much more in relegation meltdown. It’s always been clear that Hemsworth Tyke needs help filtering his bizarre opinions, but doesn’t appear to have anyone watching his back. I’ve never taken him seriously, so find it perversely hilarious. But it’s also quite worrying & he gets banned for his own good, I suspect. He’s certainly not alone on the talking bollock s stakes. Whatever..
I think on the balance of the season Norwood has done well. 8 goals isn’t a fantastic return for a top 4 team but he impacts games with his speed of movement and thought that no other forward at the club can. He has brought some of the issues he had at Ipswich. A couple of injuries and an inability to perform consistent well but January onwards this element of his game has improved immensely with his match sharpness returning and a level of consistency that he didn’t manage pre Christmas. Forwards are still a weak link but of the ones we have Norwood is the best. In an ideal world we would rotate the forwards more but that depends on what Watters and Shaw and Tedic can bring to the party so far the impact of all 3 has been negligible but it’s early days.
So if you were sat next to someone in the ground who had learning difficulties and they said a few things that were perhaps inappropriate or not within the norm, would you feel it would be fair game to take the piss out of them? It isn't really, is it?
His last ban was in relation to anti-Semitic comments. He also almost brought legal action against this forum over comments about a former players wife. Anyway lets move on.
Did you just completely ignore the last part of my sentence? Are we not allowed to disagree with his opinions because he has learning difficulties? As Jack Tatty mentions, anti-semitic comments & the Bobby Hassell stuff, should we not do something about that either due to his learning difficulties? Other than 1 comment (which I didn't see before replying to you), nobody has taken the piss out of him. They've disagreed with his opinions.
I don’t think it’s fair to speculate on anyone’s supposed ‘learning difficulties’. However bizarre his opinions might be, Hemsworth definitely has a far superior knowledge of current sport than I do. Which doesn’t say a great deal..
