Think it’s the fact that temperatures aren’t going to be really high enough to melt the snow in time for Saturdays game that’s going to be the problem .

Melt? It's not even settling here. I think bigger danger will be flooding.

I'm in Hilton, the other side of Derby and it's been snowing since last night on and off. Only about an inch has settled though.

We're off skiing on Sunday. There's literally more snowfall here in Penistone, than there is there. To say I'm pi$$ed off is a bit of an understatement. First world problems n that.

Quite a bit around Wentworth. Not settling on roads & paths. Enough to keep tourists away.. :)

Couldn't you just cancel your holiday and go skiing in Penno? Reckon it'll be fine, and the beer will undoubtedly be better.

The added irony is I've had to dig my car out of the drive, to go to Fox Valley, to pick up some gear for a skiing holiday in a resort that doesn't have any snow.

They could take the train. I'm sure they'll be fine, what with services being so reliable these days.

Really deep here in Brontecestershire & still coming down heavily. Whether game's on or not, I doubt I'll be able to get out of the drive

Oh dear. Our friends went snowboarding to Finland a couple of years back for the New Year holidays. Absolutely no snow when they arrived. After two days of walking up and down the slopes they'd had enough so came back home. Obviously not quite as bad for them as they'd driven from St Petersburg so it was just a matter of jumping in the car, but still annoying, especially as they'd paid top whack for their accomodation for a week.

Having said that, I've never really understood why Russians would go to Finland or Norway for New Year.

"I know what I fancy this winter - some snow and ice".

It's like a Dutch bloke going to Belgium for a "change of scenery".
