I have a vision of Rockall being used for a "Hunger Games" type tournament where we drop all the Tory MPs and a cache of food/weapons daily - reducing the amount of food everytime. Just to see how long before they descended into complete anarchy and started killing each other... I reckon 2-3 hours.

It would have to be subsidised food or they may claim it on expenses :)

The BBC will be annoyed that their impartiality guidelines have been breached. Being a publicly owned institution..
Naga Muncheti had her wrists slapped for rightly calling out racism live on air. BBC call it political, but it’s a much broader social issue & I agree with both Gary & Naga..
Lineker is the lead story on 6pm news, rather than the actual small boat news..
I wouldn’t think he’ll be sacked, but seems adamant he’s not shutting up. o_O

They need to fight this, as Naga is a great broadcaster & very balanced. If they get kicked off we can whistle goodbye to free speech on UK broadcasting. Sunak seriously is as near a nazi as you can get. (I've not said he was one, for admin rules).

I don't honestly know much about the subject. I do think it must be a terrible world that we forcing people to get into boats and need rescuing from the sea and putting rescue workers lives at risk.
I'm guessing it's a result of politics in many different countries.

I can only focus on what I, at least thought was my country. I'm completely ashamed to be English / British under this government. Anyone who cannot read what their agenda about has to be sat in the care home with my Dad, wondering if we are getting ice cream or custard for a sweet today.

The PM tweeted that if asylum seekers come here we will turn a blind eye if they are enslaved.

Crazy that more attention is being paid to the bloke criticising that than the tweet itself.

The way I see it is that it is none of the BBC's business what Lineker thinks or says on his personal twatter account. If he says something politically biased on a BBC program, that would be different.

    Quite.
Government policy on asylum seekers is designed to fail. They need the problem to persist so they can keep winding up the racists and bigots, with the promise that they are going to do something about it. If they actually fixed the problem, they'd have to pick on some other disenfranchised minority (the miners have gone and the unions have been bashed so I don't know who it would be). Much easier to keep the boats coming in and the Daily Heil printing Nazi-inspired headlines and blaming lefty lawyers.

The government also need to whip up rhetoric as they know that the upcoming May local elections will see them suffer significantly at the polls

I support Lineker because he makes MOTD and I like Walkers crisps. Particularly the max strong ones that are great with Beer or Lager.

It would be sad for him to lose MOTD and MOTD live because of a tweet. It's come down to a straight shoot out between him and the director general for who is getting the bullet. I'm guessing it'll be Lineker judging on the press.

Not getting involved in the political points and the holocaust etc because that's too risqué for me.

Director General was a political appointment, so you are probably right. Doesn't make him or Naga from Radio 5 getting sacked right though. If we want any kind of free press people should be able to speak their mind.

I agree. Just making the point that the director general isn't going to sack himself.

If he gets sacked,Labour should appoint him as DG of the BBC when they get in.

Where has the Holocaust been mentioned? Certainly wasn't by Lineker
