Unless I'm mistaken and it's working. We do have undersoil heating. The pitch should not be a problem unless saturated.
But having seen the photo. I'm guessing it's either off or not working. I do know it supposedly has to be on a few days in advance to work effectively.

I think I read somewhere that our undersoil heating isn’t that effective for use on standing snow.

It’s designed for sub zero temperatures and frozen ground.

They’d be better leaving the sun to it and scraping whatever is left later on before it drops too cold. Then switching the boiler on overnight.

They might also be waiting to see whether it’s worth it as it’ll cost a fortune to run it and if the game ends up being called off due to the footpaths and roads etc anyway then it’s a waste of money.

We have just put out an update that looks just like the one Exeter did.

    https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/20232/march/weather-update/

The inclement weather overnight has thrown another challenge in front of us ahead of Saturday's clash with Plymouth Argyle.

Rest assured, all at Oakwell are working flat out, doing all that they can to ensure that the stadium and playing surface is fit for purpose when we welcome Plymouth Argyle tomorrow afternoon in a 3pm kick off.

We thank all staff and contractors for their continued efforts during what has been a challenging week.

Clear the pitch, cover with sheets overnight, then get the ray lamps on the areas that don't get sun tomorrow - sorted. They'll have the sprinklers on at quart to 3.

That and it costs about 4 times as much to use these days. I don’t reckon we will use it anymore.

I've just gone to get a ticket for tomorrow's game and it's been taken off sale?
I've just called Barnsley, very friendly woman in the box office

    1) it's pay on the day, cash or card on the turnstile, £25 for adults (£2 more than the pre booked )
    2) it's stopped snowing, blue skies and sunny at the mo, main roads are ok
    3) they've got a team working on it trying to help make sure it's on
    4) it's v cold forecast tonight but fingers crossed it should be ok

I think I remember in the discussion about the Oxford cancelled game ,under soil heating is only effective at around -3 Oxford didn’t have undersoil heating ,the temp on that day was -7 in the morning and +3 in the afternoon and it got called off at 9-30am

Surely it’ll be on? Most of the roads have well thawed out now. Even the tiny side road I’m on is clear to safely drive on

    Fingers crossed.

Can’t see it being off at all, they will leave the standing snow to stop the pitch freezing, then clear it and whack the under soil heating on..
We had about 4 or 5 inch overnight and it’s pretty much all gone now.
