    So why on earth would you defund it? It's one of the cornerstones of what Britain should stand for. Its news service has been revered around the world for 100 years. Many people trust it more than what their own government is telling them.
    That has been and continues to be tarnished by the Tories. The answer is simple. Vote the Tories out and pressure Labour to fix the meddling in the leading directorial and editorial roles to ensure that it is never again influenced by or afraid of politicians of any political stripe.

    Fair play to all these people standing up on this issue.

    If there is to be any semblance of impartiality then you would assume the BBC shouldn't have a director General General who has donated £500k to the Conservative Party and arranged loans for ex Conservative PM.

    It's not wise to then remove a freelance sports presenter whose views have no relationship to its news output.

    This is simply the BBC being told what to do via Tory pressure.

    I wouldn’t be surprised if Lineker was working for Sky hosting Soccer Saturday next season. The BBC has underestimated his popularity with his sports colleague here.
