Presumably they'll submit them once they've been promoted, so they can avoid any further punishment. That seems to be the way these things go.
If the punishment was an immediate 50 point deduction, with no appeals process, clubs would never submit late accounts. #ifgoatsruledtheworld
There should be a point deduction for it being late, regardless of whatever is submitted unless a real valid reason. Even a small one like 3-6 points. Might make a difference. Doubt it...
The points deduction has to be big enough to completely scupper a promotion or send a club down, otherwise it's a waste of time. I'll stick with 50 points. Too many clubs taking the pìss these days.
I was thinking earlier that Burnley are going to be our downfall. They win the league, go up and finish comfortably mid-table. Man City win the Champions League. Duff takes Barnsley into the Championship and finish safe from relegation. Having won the Champions League, Guardiola leaves to have a crack at the Spain job (or whichever club pays the most). Man City take Kompany from Burnley. Duff continues to get plaudits for his work with Barnsley, who are now knocking on the door of the play-offs. Burnley replace Kompany with a manager from the merry-go-round. He can’t keep them up. Burnley sack him and look around the Championship for a manager to take them back up. “Any other club, but Burnley”, etc. Barnsley replace Duff with a manager from Red Bull Wherever. With Barnsley in the relegation zone we sack him, and replace him with a manager from Red Bull Somewhere-Else, despite 78 year old Neil Warnock walking up and down Grove Street with a sign saying ‘Will work for food’. Going down, we lose out leading scorer to Luton. We then lose our captain, to Luton. Luton then swoop in for our centre half, whilst our out of contract keeper receives bids from several clubs, before he chooses Luton. The fans all walk away from Oakwell, shaking our fists, telling them we’re never coming back. Barnsley appoint young manager on the strength of him having got Sutton United into League One and to their highest ever finish. “Cheap option, how good is this bloke gonna be? We’ve lost all our best players and replaced them with a load of players we’ve never heard of”…
Appart from we play Wendy's who under a new EFL rule start the game at Swillsbro with a penalty to save time and are allowed to nominate which Barnsley player will be sent off ...I think ya got it spot on Gordon..
Was thinking that myself. Surely every club is under a transfer embargo until the summer window starts?
It is quite pointless but I guess if they don’t get it sorted before the window reopens it will still be in place (although does it cover the Premier League?). Does it stop them from signing free agents?
So the top two in Championship are under transfer embargoes. Two teams recently relegated from Prem and receiving parachute payments....Strange.
The impact of a transfer embargo when clubs are between windows must be truly terrifying. It's like banning a car joyrider from driving, even though he is yet to pass his test. Pointless.
