With the size of the squad Ipswich have it's a joke if they ask to call it off. They could stand 3 or 4 call ups better than we could by us just losing Connell to a call up.
https://www.itfc.co.uk/news/2023/ma...ead-called-up-to-wales-squad-for-march-games/ We await confirmation it's off when Sam Morsy gets called up for Egypt.
Apparently Rui Vitoria has selected Morsy for the upcoming games, he released a list of foreign based players last week and Morsy was named. I suspect it will be called off. If Ipswich choose to that is, I think they have to request it don’t they?
Bit of an odd one, he's not played a game for them for 4 years, and not called into the squad for the last 2.
Don't think there's much chance of Luca being called up for a debut against France when Ireland, with Holland also in their group, probably need a good 3rd place finish to get in the playoffs, as their only chance of qualifying. Suppose they might call him up as experience around the squad tho.
Sky and BBC are rubbish at showing any games for Jamaica, Egypt and any other non European team who they might have a player called up for. As it stands I can see ITFC encouraging selection to excuse playing.
Not really. If the three or four internationals are your best players, then you don't want to be playing against promotion rivals without them. Though I seem to recall Stendel refusing to ask for a postponement in 18/19, probably because we were so poor in midweek games that season.
Haven’t seen it posted on here or have I missed it? I wasn’t aware that Ipswich had any internationals other than Morsy and he rarely makes the final squad
The third player is likely to be Greg Leigh, a Jamaican International. Although he's only a fringe player at Ipswich.
He's not in the Jamaica squad for their two friendlies this week and hasn't played for them in their last five games or under their current manager so it seems a bit unlikely that he'd get a call up for their Nations League game on 26th. I think it still comes down to whether Morsy gets picked for Egypt or not.
