Scored in 5 of his last 7 games and scored 16 this season. Gotta be worth a punt in the summer for a PL club.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Just like we had Norwich's pants down with how little we paid & made profit on him, he'd 10000% be a first teamer in their squad right now
Bit different. Norwich wanted rid, we didn't. We knew how good he was, Norwich didn't They were happy with what they got for him, we (the fans) weren't.
They wanted rid because they weren't good enough to identify how good a player they had on their hands! They wouldn't have sold him that cheap if they'd known he was going to worth millions 18-24 months later. If the quote about his price was true, I wasn't happy obviously because I'd have kept him as much as humanly possible, but it was a fair price given the situation - especially now we know club has put even more money in
Except on the golf course. Good for recovery from injury apparently. I'm not a doctor though so couldn't possibly judge.
I think this is what a lot of people don't think about when moaning at the club for 'not trying' to keep him. Given his contract length, the fact that despite how much we loved him, he only scored 14 league goals for us over 2 years, had past injury worries and above all, clearly did not want to be here anymore. Add all that up, especially considering the club's financial situation (even though yes, it was a fault of the board), the payment we got was fair imo. Might even have been better to accept a little less but whack a sell-on clause in there
Is that true though, did he/Morris turn his back on the club last season, when he was supposed to be injured. And go for a round or two of golf instead, so as not to spoil his chances of an injury free move to some other club in the Championship ?.
