As chosen by me. Discussion is encouraged, requests to remove songs is not - once they're in, they're in.

    NUMBER 200

DIRE STRAITS - SULTANS OF SWING

Great lyric, great lead throughout the song and one of Knopfler's best vocals. Top solo to play us out too.

THIN LIZZY - DANCING IN THE MOONLIGHT

A bassline so smooth it could come into your kitchen, open a bottle of wine and steal your wife. Added points because Phil Lynott is a seriously cool man.

THE CRANBERRIES - ODE TO MY FAMILY

These vocals, Jesus Christ. What a voice Dolores had - just stunningly haunting. Great melody too. I think they're underrated, and seeing as it's my list, that's what counts.

Thunder suck. & the drummer was a right mardy neighbour.
Calling coppers on me for playing guitars too loud on a Friday afternoon? Scarborough Road, London N4.1992.
I answered the door & copper told me politely to turn down. Admired my telecaster & said he too loves the Rolling Stones.. I was actually playing an early Aerosmith songI was quite fond of. Showed the Bobby the open tuning shapes & he was in his way, saying crap bands have a t sleep too.

I’m occasionally moved by new young singers. & the way the kid strikes the open low E string? Reminds me of Jones bend in 2nd verse if God Save the Queen . Impulsive genius.? It’s like if Adam Hamill played guitar.

SMOKEY ROBINSON AND THE MIRACLES - THE TRACKS OF MY TEARS

Now this is wonderful. I'm not a big Motown Man truth be told, but this beauty can't be ignored. Smokey Robinson could write a song in an afternoon, and when it's this good, then that's all that's needed.

Have I got this wrong - I thought this thread was a personal countdown for Fonzie to give us his favourites and everyone has joined in to randomly post

All are welcome - if I just posted 200 songs it would be a bit boring. There hasn't been another song posted by someone else yet that's in my list though!

I also started this after an afternoon of drinking yesterday and a discussion with mates over our favorite songs - and it seemed a good idea at the time - may as well carry it on now!

Keep going Fonzie - I’m intrigued to see where it’s going - some good choices so far mate.
