Not wanting to hijack the wonderful lad n dad thread, as this is not footy related.
I mentioned last year I spend my weekends trying to tidy up and preserve the site of a long demolished mansion where I live.
A few weeks ago, I met a fella called John who told wonderful tales of his childhood playing in the ruins in the 1950s, his memories of the house and the mischief they got up to. I met him again, and his memories were sharp and more stories followed.
Yesterday, I was knees deep in mud and dust, and a fella (Richard) and his wife wanted showing round. He too used it as a childhood playground. Memories came back and he started telling stories as he got his bearings. I thought 'hang on a sec, this sounds a bit familiar'. I told him about John and he got emotional as he recounted they were good mates who spent half their childhood playing together with mutual mates in the mansion grounds.
A bit of Saturday evening / Sunday morning digital matchmaking by yours truly, and hey presto, these 2 chums are meeting up next week for the first time in nigh on 60 years.
I hope to get a photo of the encounter in their old playground.
