Message me seperately. I'm at Asda, big investment and building out a new Tech team. Might be something but can't promise.
Get that one, then we have somebody to moan to on local derby days.. Seriously, I love how good folk rally ‘round. You’ll have your pick, before too long. Good lad getting rescue pups too.
Thank you. Can't believe how much response this post got. Really appreciate it from everyone. The new rescue has been brilliant. 6 year old Vizla and she has settled in a treat.
Drop me a DM please with your LinkedIn details. Don't know of anything at present but plenty of contacts. Good luck
Hopefully this works for you. The file uploader for some reason gives me and error on my phone and iPad. If it does work the pointer is Florence and she is 3. We got Florence as a puppy as we really wanted a pointer. Tried to rescue at the time but as I was full time in the office at that point they would not entertain it even though we had someone to look after them for us through day so we ended up getting her as a pup. Aspen is the new Vizla we got as rescue a month or so ago.
Just giving this a bump seen as my contract has now ended and my employer didn't choose to extend it so I am now without a job. Thanks to all those who reached out when I posted initially. I applied for lots of the ones I was sent and just awaiting replies back. Just giving it a bump Incase anyone missed it first time that may be able to help.
Dunt put "seen" on your application letter when you mean "seeing"; they'll think you're a ****. Good luck with your job search.
Asda approached me several times to join the migration team, but for some reason they wanted me to waste a couple of hours every day traveling to the office... for a paycut! Brush up your CV - if you haven't already - and send it out to any recruiter on LinkedIn, Jobserve, or any other job board you can find. Its a difficult time at the minute with lots going from the big players and on the market for jobs. Its hard to compete with "20 years leading the desktop support team at Microsoft" at the best of times. Unfortunately, my place is only recruiting offshore at the moment, but happy to pass along anything I see in UK - unless you fancy living in Noida, Pune or Bangalore? Look at the big cloud providers and see what certifications/trainings they offer online - and better still for free. A CV with "Amazon Accredited" or "Microsoft Certified" looks a lot better than ones without - recruiters often use that to tick boxes and dump CVs. Its not great - especially in your position, but you have to look at spending 4-5 hours per day either applying for jobs, networking, or improving your skills to help you get a job. Try not to scattergun though - concentrate in one area, like security, server, serverless, etc. Don't discount the sites like Upwork or eLance for work either. Although many are often short term gigs - to fix a specific problem or produce something for a project, etc. Good luck - and don't let it grind you down.
Just a final bump on this one from me. I know some were keen to hear updates etc. Today I was offered a job with South Yorkshire police in the tech support team so managed to get myself sorted which is a huge relief. Thanks again to everyone who reached out and helped etc. It was actually due to a tip off from the BBS that I checked their jobs page and found the role I got. Will be 4 weeks or so until I can start but great to have got something sorted.
