Watch the highlights of the game on Saturday. Watters has a chance first half, it's on the short highlights package. He hits the ball on the run with his weak foot and forces the keeper into a save. He starts his run two yards behind the defender and collects the ball 2 yards in front of him, over just 10 yards with their defender flat out. It's an astonishing turn of pace. He's a proper player.

Aye, I was going to say something on those lines, many players may recover physically from a serious injury like a broken leg but always have a fear of repeating it which affects their performance. Credit to Luke, he's come back like he'd never been injured.

Yep, saw that. Probably didn't appreciate how quickly he accelerated on the highlights package, but in the flesh last night it was quite striking.

Be interesting to see how that 3rd spot plays out. Phillips, Russell and Thomas all three very different types of midfielder. Personally still think Phillips keeps his shirt, because of his goal return. If that dries up though, I think he’ll be under pressure pretty quick. As has been mentioned several times, if you take his goals away, he can look fairly anonymous at times.

Thomas no doubt deserves a start, but it is a squad game these days & he's very effective as an impact sub & I suspect that may be his role in coming games, unless there are injuries / suspensions.

I think similar. Phillips is our joint second top scorer and joint leading provider of assists. Nine goals from midfield when he didn't get into the first 11 for the first month or so is a great return. Thomas has done some good stuff the last couple of weeks but his goals, assists don't come anywhere near Phillips. Like you say, it's down to who's in form but if they both are Phillips starts.
Connell is a shoe in. Fantastic midfielder and a leader too. I saw him in the huddle after we'd scored the first on Tuesday night giving a mini speech.
We've certainly got great options in midfield for this league.
