An Oxford fan doing a score prediction for the remaining fixtures and he has us drawing one game and winning the rest! That puts us on 100 points and winning the League by a pout or two from Wednesday! Where do we sign for that? (He also has Oxford - who are currently in a bit of trouble pulling clear)
Not wanting to be a negative Nelly (but I’m going to be) it aways worry’s me when folk tip us to do well because it would be very Barnsley after beating Plymouth, Derby, Wycombe and the World champions we’ll slip up against Exeter,
I agree. We also lost away at Morecambe too and Lincoln twice in League and Cup. My Dad says, "If they can beat you once, it's ingrained, they can do it again. Regardless of the league table." I agree. You only have to look at our results v Fulham in 2019/20. Can see it being a Wycombe type game.
I'd be amazed if any of the top 4 get to the end of the season and only drop points in one or two games. To go up, we probably need 8 wins, which would see us finishing the season with 18 wins out of 22. Would be a remarkable achievement, not sure how likely it is though.
I'd say 8 wins and a draw to have a chance of top 2. It's mad that that would give us 97 points and might still not be enough. It's doable I suppose but highly unlikely.
It's human nature to think other people have it easier than you, and to overstate how difficult your own challenges are. Everybody seems to think Plymouth, Ipswich and Wednesday are going to barely drop another point, but think it would be impossible for us to do the same. Plymouth have to play Exeter away, a local derby, but we probably think that they will win easily whereas we would be happy with a point. Quite a few neutrals are now giving us a good chance of automatic promotion, probably because on form we're the strongest team in the division right now. Other teams are rightly worried about us, hopefully that fear factor will give us an edge.
I'd be surprised if it wasn't enough. Can see either Plymouth or Wednesday dropping points in 3 of their remaining games. But it's a huge ask for us to get to that points tally.
I think six wins, 2 draws, two defeats will be enough. I don't fancy any of our rivals to win every game either.
I'm not saying for a minute we'll get 8 wins and a draw because I doubt we will. Tonight is a real banana skin for starters, a very tough game. It's just dangerous how confident everyone is getting....very unBarnsley like lol.
Unless a team absolutely collapses, it is going to be an absolute freak of a season. Imagine getting over 90pts and missing out on promotion. Atm it's a case of who blinks first.
Would put us on 92 points, to climb above teams above us, Ipswich would need to drop 10 points (and overhaul their GD), Plymouth would have to drop 12 points, and Wednesday would have to drop 13 points. Ipswich have a tough run in, so they might drop that many points. But can see both Plymouth and Wednesday getting to around 94/95 points from where they are now.
