I think some folk just overthink stuff. Sometimes the opposition simply play better on the night. Well done Exeter we will be reyt.
There wasn't much in it first half. Two fairly soft goals, although Connell's ball in for Thomas's goal was sublime. Second half we fall apart a bit & they had success down their left flank, obviously an area they targeted. Connell had to be withdrawn after his booking, but we lacked a bit of quality after that, despite creating a few chances. No suspension worries now, so it's just about us dusting ourselves off & going again on Saturday.
I think making 4 changes at once was counter productive. Thomas needed to come on for Kane or Phillips, and I would’ve brought Watters on for Norwood, who was trying to get himself booked again. Not sure Connell had to come off. He got his booking by being the only outfield player up for a corner. Could easily have avoided that situation happening again. He should’ve been taking the corners anyway.
yes... big subject, and I have read all the responses... but I reckon that 'massive' match affected both teams... (can't explain it... but.....)
I think from Duffs perspective we have been burnt by quite a few refs decisions this season and it’s not beyond any stretch of the imagination to end up with another one last night.
We had moments in the game. If we take our chances we scrape a draw. We lost. Hay ho we move on. I'd like to add that last night was jinxed from the moment I turned on BBC Radio Sheffield on BBC Iplayer and it cut out and wouldn't come back on. I knew we'd lost then.
Nar .. we were out played by Wednesday for an hour.. could easily have lost it. Weren't great at Wycombe but again stole it at the end. So it's kinda been coming, Exeter decent side, I agree with Duff, they out Barnsled us. Last night. Maybe just a game too far all runs come to an end.. nothings been won or lost yet. 9 games left still all to play for
The reason Wednesday were on top for an hour is because they had no option but to go for it being 2 - 0 down early. They run out of steam towards the end & were worthy losers.
Not having that. They were chasing the game and pumping balls into our box. It was inevitable that they would put us under pressure, but they were on level terms with us for less then 20 of the 90 minutes.
Not so sure. He wasn't exactly dishing cards out, and Connell's yellow was a blatant a booking as you'll see, and from a situation easily avoided for the rest of the game. Our chances of coming back into it again reduced when we took him off imo.
