Just out of interest then, if the Fowls game really did take that much out of us, and if wed played Ipswich on Satdy. Who thinks we would have beat them, or lost to them like we did at Exeter.
Good question. I think we'd have lost after the euphoria and adrenaline ran out. However, I think we could have won if we'd hit them hard and scored two or three during that initial burst. We'll never know though.
As much as it annoyed me at the time, and how and why it was done etc. I do know that we have a very poor record against Ipswich, so postponing that game at that time, maybe was a good thing. I expect us to beat Eric Morecambe Fc tomorrow, and then the Easter weekend could be massive!.
I'd take 4-3 especially if it involved us winning from a losing position. 2-1 or 3-1 down and turning the game around would be something of a confidence builder and generate an atmosphere
Hey do you remember that 4-3 Lg cup game JP ?. Tom Bradshaw looks really good, when you think back. And what a 91st minute winner ehh from Ryan Hedges. Ohh yes, get in there.
Ģetting back to the thread, most on here like myself were looking to consolidate this season. Make a challenge for the top 6 next season. We have punched above our weight. Hats off to Duffy and Co for what we have acheived on the field ,a memorable double over the Fowls included. Also hats off to the club for actually getting the fans back on board,as most are starting to beleive again, hence the numbers turning up. Also a really positive January window which as made a real difference since the new year. What ever happens from here on ,we have to back them and take this as a bonus. I'm still hoping for automatic but looking at the top 4 teams run in its going to rely on teams slipping up like we did in the week. Realistically a play off spot looks certain now. We have to hope the boys can regain some consistency going into the play offs to give us a shout in the play offs. In all fairness a great season so far whatever happens ,hopefully if we don't make promotion, try to hang on to key players and the gaffer.
Disagree.. it's the bang average games we haven't turned up.. Done well in most big games this season..
Excellent post & I echo your thoughts , no one hand on heart expected the season we have had yet fans are fans & with results improving so have expectation levels , personally for me to reach the play offs this season would be an outstanding effort & if we don"t make it then we go again next season , I know this much I have thoroughly enjoyed this season in division one as opposed to the awful dross we endured last season in the championship & if we are still in this league next season then I have no problem with that , we have progressed as a team & a club & we have something to build on next year & if we do make it & get promotion well that would be fantastic but its not the end of the world if we don"t , what ever happens this season has been a success.
