I’m close to saving £350 or whatever it is. I’ve been going to oakwell since I was abart 5 years old, I never ever thought this would even come close to going through my mind but after Saturdays ordeal then I’m unfortunately it is now crossing my mind whether to even bother renewing. It’s not the fact I had 12 stewards come at me, it doesn’t phase me… I laugh it off or deal with it to the best of my ability. It’s the fact it absolutely traumatised my 10 year old son which also eats, sleeps and breathes Barnsley fc like me. To have that many stewards and a number of them especially the 1 with the orange jacket be very aggressive in front of him and the threatening behaviour towards me then wow! What do people think goes through kids heads when they see that but to see it happening to his dad for no reason whatsoever. Bang out of order. I try my best to get an atmosphere going, not just an atmosphere… a positive atmosphere. The powers that be have been begging us for the atmosphere and I try my best to deliver where ever I can make a difference. The fans have been brilliant for the last few months and for this to happen is probably gunna have an impact on a lot of people thinking they darent do anything cos the ‘heavy handed aggressive mob’ will eject them from the stadium.

Did they give reasons as to why they were taking it away?

Each steward had a number on their uniform .You have the right to report them for their behaviour.
Can contact football club or Support Liason Officer SLO who looks after the welfare of the supporters if you have a grievance.

I'm all for the stewards but in this case It's out of order & totally unnecessary, Very disappointing. I would go to the club in person & demand an explanation plus an apology, they are bang out of order mate, don't give up on the reds.

What started it all granty? Obviously the megaphone but did it start with one steward on his own and then after a while they all appeared?

I don't know you mate, but it appears a lot of people do. I would suggest a talk with the powers that be at the club before making such a big decision. I'm not trying to underplay your experience, I don't know what happened, but I think it's worth speaking directly with the decision makers before making a judgement call based on the actions of people who hold no power. I don't know the result of that, but I do know, without a shadow of a doubt, you'll be listened to. And properly listened to.

I hope it doesn't have any lasting effect on your young un mate. As others have said, reach out to the club, I'm sure Khaled and JAQ would like to know what happened and I'm sure would try to get to the bottom of it. You seem to have had an impact on them too, for JAQ to provide a megaphone in the first place. It would be a shame if you called it a day because I can't think of a ground in the country where I've not seen you at.

Saw you walking out with it ... seemed incredibly over the top from where I was! Maybe message JAQ seeing as it was from her in the first place. Sorry your lad had to witness it

Come on BFC do whatever is needed to reassure Granty Jr that he won’t ever deal with that again and compensate him in some way.

I feel the Club are gonna need to step in on this. JAQ specifically gave you the megaphone. Someone clearly hasn’t had the memo. I sincerely hope this can all be dealt with sensibly.

Hope the lad isn’t too shook up by it all.

The big steward with the orange jacket is a disgrace. This is the second time in recent months he’s been overly aggressive and confrontational towards fans and shown no inkling of wanting to de-escalate the situation.

BFC are you listening? A serious wrong has been done here, by BFC employees who have clearly acted in an overly aggressive and intimidating manner. Whatever their reasons for intervention their behaviour was completely OTT and there are plenty of witnesses to confirm that.
You asked for an atmosphere. Who more than anybody else has taken it upon himself to give you that? Granty. So much so that he was gifted that megaphone by Julie Ann herself. And now your own employees make a massive show of group force to try and take it from him - terrifying his child in the process. Sort it out please, pronto, and take steps to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Ive witnessed more than this one act of unnecessary intimidation this season, by one or two Ponty End stewards. They have a difficult job, yes, and most of them do it well, but some do have a habit of exceeding their powers - and seeming to enjoy it.

What did Andy Clarke from the club say? He was on the scene within 10 minutes.

Andy is a top bloke and very professional in his role. He couldn’t apologise enough. He said there was mis communication. R lass took my lad away from it all and went on concourse with him and Andy took the time to go find them and see if he was ok.
