    Love watching these lasses.

For those of us who are old, I remember watching the women's game when it was far from the standard it is now. But not only is the standard a lot better nowadays, England are right up there.

Mary Earps is quality in goal. That seems the only issue, when I catch WSL games, a lot of the keepers are dreadful.

But yeah. Love that the women's game is now proper legit, something I actually watch.

We'll have something special at Oakwell in the next few years too, fingers crossed. Still lots to do, but it's about time we had a genuine presence.

Nice to see England winning a penalty shoot out for a change.

Yes I agree with this completely. I saw someone mention making the nets slightly smaller for the ladies because on generally women are smaller than men, but she got a bit of black lash for it. Would it be better for it?

Do you think that changing the size of the goals would help or hinder women's football?

Just thinking of the hundred in cricket, which I think might be the sport (or format) which really does try and push the women's side of things the most. The boundaries are brought way in for the women's matches, and it's very noticeable because they're all double-headers played back to back on the same ground. You do get grumbles from the usual suspects but the vast majority just accept it as a perfectly fair and reasonable adjustment.

I suppose a concern would be that those 'usual suspects' are a lot more prevalent and vocal in football than they are in cricket?

At fault for the goal but redeemed herself in the penalty shootout.
They should definitely make the goals smaller for women. Play back any woman's match and a lot of the goals conceded are just under the crossbar.
Often described as wonder goals when in reality we'd be fuming if a male goalkeeper let them in like that.

Just don’t think it’s practical to have another size of goals.

It would be preferable for people to not use the size
of goals to undermine the abilities of female footballers.

Not for me. Give it a few more years and the standard will keep increasing.

But she didn't undermine anyone's ability in my opinion. Not being 6'3 isn't a dig at anyone's ability. Out of interest, why was that your first thought? Why did you think she was attacking/undermining female footballers for asking a question? It was on Twitter and she got lambasted to the point where you'd have thought she murdered everyone's pets. Suppose that's what social media has become

No doubt in that bud. The lengths women's football has already come in the last 10 years is astonishing in itself

I agree. You've to think, women's football is playing catch up with men's in terms of coaching and support at grass roots level. But it's getting there.

The standard of goalkeeping is much better now than it was when I first watched a women's world cup in about 2010.
