If we don't go up and Huddersfield stay up, I still don't think he would go there. While travelling between Barnsley and Cheltenham isn't ideal, plenty have it harder. He's not a WWE wrestler travelling the world with one day at home per week. He's not in the army away for months on end.
Another point on this like we did with val and struber I imagine we have a big release clause for Duff... last I heard Huddersfield were skint. Come end of the season if Wendy's and Derby don't go up I think that will be Warne and Moore out of a job they can have one of them.
fwiw I doubt there's any substance to the huddersfield link. it's come from Alan Nixon, for a start. I'm more ITK than him.
Would have thought that we'd be trying to sell anything that isn't nailed down if we don't go up. The board made up for the short fall this season, but I'm sure it's will be sales that will be the main part of lowering of the wage bill if in L1 next season
Confimed as pointless conjecture By Alan Nixon Huddersfield Town are taking a keen interest in rising star boss Michael Duff at Yorkshire neighbours Barnsley. The Terriers will be looking for a long term successor to Neil Warnock at the end of the season and Duff is liked by their incoming regime. Duff cut his teeth at Cheltenham and has impressed at Barnsley where they are in promotion contention. The chances of landing Duff would be boosted if Huddersfield were in a higher division or even the same one next season. So there is even more to play for in the coming weeks as both outfits still do not know their fates.
Didn't we all say Big Val wouldn't leave? Not going up coupled with any trasfer activity both in and out would be enough for hin to scarper I reckon. However when we go up that's one issue out of the equation.
We are more likely to lose Duff if we go up. If we lose in the playoffs I'm not sure the cheque books will be coming out. Big spending clubs look at success. We know getting in the top 6 is a big achievement, but we were relegated from the Championship last season, so some would have expected us to be up there, even though that isn't the truth. We were a busted flush under the previous 2 joke managers.
I think that in the grand scheme of things Barnsley will have been earmarked as a stepping stone by MD as far as his career goes 'on his way to the prem' i can't see him being tempted by Hudds but i think a bigger championship club will be in for him sooner rather than later' its a case of enjoy him while we have him because atm he's more important to the club than a 20 a season striker imo..
You're right, he's not. Everyone has expectations relative to their chosen profession. You're comparing chalk and cheese.
I'm pretty sure there will be several teams in the championship looking at our coach...he has been superb so far, for us.
I can see Michael Duff staying with us, until Pep leaves City, and Kompany goes to the Ethihad. If/when that happens, Duff will be off to Turf Moor
Is anyone else coming to this conclusion (Kompany to City) other than reds fans nervous about losing Duff? Aside from a Championship promotion with a team who had the advantage of parachute payments, Kompany has had no success as a coach. He even failed to take Anderlecht through the Conference League Qualifiers, bowing out to a Dutch team (Vitesse). I think Duff's got more chance of rocking up at the Etihad.
He said it was a three hour drive home other day ont wireless. I wouldn't be wanting that for years on end.
Disco seems to manage & to be honest most players live out of a suit case throughout their careers plus if travel had been an issue with Duff he would not have taken the job in the first place , do not see where he lives being a problem.
