    Wouldn't surprise me mate. it often gets quoted as Sheffield. (Pisses off most of the locals) Few ex players live/lived out that way. Eg Oxspring.

    Love that. I am sure many would have loved a chat and photo with him, but rightly respected that he was out with family and so left him alone.

    I wouldn’t read too much into the loyalty aspect.

    Him & that Burnley squad were overachieving for many years. No other premier league club was going to come in & offer big money for him & there was no reason for him to drop into the championship so was his loyalty ever tested?

    The test comes when he has some of his best players are sold and / or other teams come in for him.

    It pissed Hecky, Stendel & Struber off & Val was off before it even happened to him.

    If we lose in the play offs & several of Anderson, Williams, Collins, Connell, Kane etc go then he’ll be gone when championship sides come in for him.

    Just enjoy him while he’s here

    He's been in tarn tonight, didn't pester him but had a quick chat. Happy doing what he's doing and loving the club, fans and the area. Not that that means an awful lot with what money could be offered but that's not his priority. I say enjoy him and what he is doing while we do have him

    I don't think struber left due to players been sold. He only really had brown sold under him, he wasn't here that long but kept us up and got a better paid job off the back of it and the club got a few million in compo everyone was a winner.
    I felt for stendel after promotion had his top scorer sold 5 days before the window shut. His 2 center half's sold one the best I've seen at oakwell for some years now a premier league player (pinnock)
    Hecky the players who left were mostly out of contract within 6 months and some in scowen and Watkins left for free. He was given the biggest transfer purse for a barnsley manager in the history of the club.
    The point is no matter what division we're in our better players will get sold. I think bringing in Barry cotter looks like a replacement for Williams this summer.

    I agree but I think that’s why Duff won’t see us a long term career move. Come in, do a really good job for a year or two & then get a move to a club with bigger resources before he loses a lot of his key players & results start to turn.

    Another journalist’s opinion put into print, he might get lucky and say I told you so but until Duff is our manager the only opinion that counts is his, there will be more managers around in the summer with more experience than ours that won’t cost them a penny to employ. Duff is still learning even when we go up He needs Championship experience let’s hope it’s with the Reds and not our neighbours.
