More clubs in the south than the north, so the southern-ish Midlands often ends up being the border. My friend used to follow Worcester City, and they were forever being bounced between divisions.

I have it in my collection as well, although I have passed on the custodianship of the whole lot, plus extensive scrap books, to a younger relative

Same with my old team, Gloucester City. They’ve spent plenty of seasons in the northern section despite being definitely in the south west

Old as I am, I hadn't been in the pub beforehand . Grrat to hear that another life-long Reds fan shares an experience with me. Yes, the pitch looked like rolled mud., and the Scunthorpe goal keeper was so annoyed he hammered the ball against his crossbar as the ref blew: mongey bar-stewatd!

You can understand his anger though, conceding a late equaliser when they thought it was a formality that mighty Scunthorpe would beat lower league Barnsley:). We beat another Second Division side in the fourth round - Bury. Incredible how both have tumbled down the leagues since then yet we have been mostly successful over the years.

Then, of course came the star-studded Man Utd to wallop us 4-0 in the fifth round. That was quite a cup run and I wish I had been a bit older so that I could remember more of it.
