We didn’t play well admittedly, but VAR would’ve ruled against their goal at Oakwell for offside for starters. The scoreline was too close to say it wouldn’t have made a difference
We were totally stopped from playing by the wretched Eltringham reffing the game completely as his ref mate's son wanted it, slowing it down at every opportunity from minute 1 to 90. When even Sky commentators remark on the time-wasting in the first half you know there's something wrong.
The EFL do have rules and regulations they also have a duty to supporters. They are quick to jump on players that behave badly or wrongly and do it publicly so why don't the referees have to face the same wrath. We also know there is a separate body that is supposed to deal with officials. But as i keep saying the EFL run the league so they have got to have an input on referees
Well I'm pIss ed off. Not with the Cadden red. That was stupidity. The refereeing v us this season and officiating has been 5hite. I'd like to see the stats for number of minutes we've had to endure in our close games. Refs trying to suck the ball into our net. Oxford away and Shrewsbury home and away seemed to be trying to play on until they scored. It could be that the Accrington away, Portsmouth away and Burton away refereeing performances cost us automatic promotion or indeed promotion as a whole. Play-Offs as we all know are a lottery but this season will feel like 99/00 all over again should we not make it. I felt cheated that season too. (Port Vale and Sheffield Utd away just two off top of my head).
Prior to the goal they scored it should have been a warning. Carbon copy move. Started on the wing ending up with a free shot at goal. Saw it coming from where I sat. Plus towards the latter end of the season, sides sussed us out.
I blame Dike for the refs performance. Tried to make it a wrestling match with their centre back and drew the refs attention. That's where the nigglyness came from. Took himself out of the game. Should have ran the channels which he had done previously in our good run. All in the past. Just hope our next crack at top flight promotion isn't another 21 years in the making.
Could be an option, with Cundy in at CB, or Larkeche in at LWB & keep the CBs unchanged. Kitch likes bombing forward, so the former option may be the way to go vs FGRs...
I think Kitching's runs forward from centre back have been important, and given us the extra man. While I wouldn't have a problem with him at LWB, I think we'd lose something with Cundy playing as a wide centre back.
We are playing FGRs. Whilst not wanting to go all Wendsday-esque. We need to attack. More dropped points & it is the playoffs for sure. Will depend who Duff selects. I'm happy with that. Cundy has looked solid when he's had his chances. Injury has obviously ruled him out for a lot of the season.
If we're going all out attack, wouldn't you have Kitching going forward from Centre back, along with a LWB, rather than Cundy. Cundy centre back and Kitching LWB feels like a more defensive option to me.
Leave the back three as it is and bring in Larkeche at wing back. Just because it’s the obvious thing to do doesn’t make it the wrong thing to do.
