Interesting tale on portalk on a thread on the same subject.. "...a few years ago Liverpool were awarded a very late and dubious penalty by the linesman to give them a win at Palace. That linesman was from Barnsley, was a Liverpool fan, and was openly laughing about it in the pub that weekend." Wonder if this could be the game in question.. https://www.skysports.com/football/crystal-palace-vs-liverpool/report/341468
I actually agree the original ref shouldn’t have been given the game in the first place. Hackett summed it up best when he said ‘I’m not questioning the integrity of an official but don’t put him in a game where there is baggage’. That said it would be highly amusing if the replacement was gash.
Comes as absolutely no surprise that the ref has been switched. They're putting themselves before anything and anyone else. And it's working.
They're not impressed on fowlstalk....... "Ipswich definitely up there with Derby in terms of weirdest club/fans" I kid you not.
I'm glad the ref has been switched after they've complained. They've now got a ref who if anything might be biased against them for being whinging ***** rather than a ref who would be aware that any decisions he gives against Ipswich would attract extra scrutiny and accusations of bias. They're still dickheads for complaining in the first place.
Contrast with Plymouth who had the same Wednesday supporting ref a couple of weeks ago. They just got on with it, no moaning and won.
I’m enjoying teasing Ipswich fans on Twitter for chickening out of our game. I really hope we beat them, as it would be even more fun then
Bovvered.......... https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/sport...ckenna-decision-change-referee-charlton-game/
If you're talking about Ryan Lowe that was a different issue - Wednesday weren't in the same division then.
