And I don't mean one hit wonders here, I mean established artists. Maybe you heard the one great song and bought the album off the back of it, only to realise that there was a very good reason why the song you heard was chosen as the lead single. I'll start with with Grey Cell Green by Ned's Atomic Dustbin, and I Write Sins Not Tragedies by Panic! At the Disco.

It's not terrible, but doesn't do much for me personally. The thing is, when I first heard "I Write Sins..." I was genuinely really excited, which quickly turned to huge disappointment when I listened to some of their other stuff at the time. Maybe they've got some other classics hidden away, but I've not bothered checking any of their releases for years.

I could well have chosen Ned's Atomic Dustbin but it would have been for Kill Your Television.

You ruined a perfectly good thread by calling Ned’s rubbish! :)

U2 Still haven't found what I'm looking for
Queen Under Pressure (the best thing about the song is Bowie)

Gay Bar is a great song, although I was absolutely convinced that it was a novelty record at the time. I was more than a little surprised when I found out that Electric Six were a proper band with multiple albums.

I was scraping the barrel, I don’t like it either really. I just didn’t want to state the obvious -Bohemian Rhapsody - because to me it’s garbage!

Before anyone says “they had 2 great songs” Cats in the cradle was a cover so wasn’t their song.
