Former Barnsley player Chaplin celebrated his goal against his former club wildly, before later admitting the manner of his exit for Ipswich last summer acted as motivation when facing the Tykes.

“Not at all,” he said, when asked if he ever considered not celebrating against the men from Oakwell.

“Barnsley have a policy of buying and selling players and they don’t have many loyalties to players at that football club.

“The fans were amazing with me and I had a great relationship with them, but the football club in general doesn’t have loyalty and it’s just about buying and selling players.

“I was really motivated and happy to score against them for that reason.”

Do you know the team are having a season that is way Beyond what most of us would’ve anticipated/hoped and some posters on here seem to want to focus on one of our own players being involved in a bit of banter with the opposition. Hope he or any other player doesn’t get involved in anything more unsavoury like breaking the law as some would’ve have them in the stocks or a public flogging.

You mean you hope duff has a word with him AGAIN...

Following the home game when Norwood tweeted mocking forest green fans:

Duff said: "I just said: 'we have just won the game, so there's no need to get involved'. He played well and there was nothing positive to come out of that in my opinion.'

"To be fair to him, he said: 'yes, I probably didn't need to get involved.'

"Playing against his former team, I don't think he did anything wrong. He didn't score and did not celebrate in front of them and didn't go winding them up."

"But he was getting abuse for no reason. That's what I understand; some people have a breaking point.

"It was not a 'dressing down' or anything, but a bit of advice.

"He might do it again next week. I am not his dad and I am just going to advise him (and say) 'I wouldn't get involved in that, but if that is what you are want to do, that is what you are want to go.'"

At least he didn't go celebrating in front of their fans right? Erm oops

Hes a grown man, he can make his own decisions. I do like Duff's way of dealing with things like that.

I hope he’s celebrating goals in front of fans ( our or opposition) in every game he plays in

I said his celebration was disrespect on another thread and I found it abit embarrassing. I got shot down because fgr fans were giving him ****** chant in the build up.
Fgr fans took it well if that had happened at oakwell infront of the ponty would have been a different reaction.

There isn't a "finest" of "shithousery" and we shouldn't be celebrating it.

Do you not get that some fans want their players to act with dignity? That they want the players to represent the supporters? For what it's worth I would probably have shrugged it off as unfortunate but to hear some folk revelling in our players acting like w***ers is annoying.

Kinnel. If I got upset everytime someone called me a w4nker, I'd be upset more than a certain Mr Nudger.

Let’s put things into perspective here, it’s a game of football and a player and some opposing fans have exchanged a bit of ‘banter’ that doesn’t even begin to register on the scale of obscenities or even bad taste. Most of the time I don’t even take notice of player’s celebrations I’m too busy celebrating with people in my immediate vicinity.

It’s not really “upset”. Who knows? Maybe he was upset, I don’t know him. It’s more “if you give it out, be prepared to take it back”.

I probably wouldn’t be arsed either if the crowd was giving a bit of stick to me but then, I’m not a footballer in that situation so I can’t say 100%. Either way, it’s hardly crime of the century.

Nah **** that. They abused him at oakwell. It's banter. We all cry out saying "we are too nice" we finally get players who like to go into battle and people moan

Exactly. Thing is they gave it to him, he gave it back. They weren't even bothered, they've been down for weeks really. A mate at work and his mate are ST holders and they haven't been for months. I was wondering if we could meet up before, but he said him and his mate got sick of seeing truly appalling football (his words). Anyways, a bunch of lads called Norwood a wnkr, he smiled, had a photo with a young FGR fan, and then gave a bit when he scored. No-one cared. Apathy has set in there for this season.

Sounds similar to us last season where no one could be arsed to go oakwell to watch schopp or poyas mind numbing football.

Absolutely love it when players do stuff like this. I’m all up for winding the opposition up as much as possible.
