Head coach Duff said: “It’s frustrating. We had enough of the ball and got in good areas. Lincoln changed the way they played and went back to front because they didn’t want to play into a press.

“We need a stronger referee. Lincoln made it pretty apparent from the first five minutes that they were happy with a 0-0 and to try to pinch one on the counter-attack. When there are people going down every few minutes and pretending to be injured, they need to add the right amount of time on. But we could have played another 20 minutes and not scored.

“We didn’t have the quality, didn’t hold it up well enough and gave the ball away cheaply. We had a few scrambles that didn’t fall for us.

“I thought we were the better team and we kept a clean sheet away from home and we’re three games unbeaten.

“The application, attitude, energy, I can’t question. People gave everything until the last minute.”

Barnsley are now six points off the top two with four games left. They are guaranteed a place in the play-offs. Duff said: “People wrote the team off when we lost to Lincoln last time. I don’t listen to it, I try to improve the team and move onto the next game.”

The away fans applauded their team off after the game. Duff said: “I know the fanbase because it’s similar to the club I used to play for (Burnley). They will forgive a lack of quality if they see hard work, big headers and tackles. If they had booed them off, that’s not the club I thought I walked into. They will be frustrated like we are. We’ve scored a lot of goals this season and the last time we drew a blank was Bristol Rovers which was another team who just try to stop you. We have to find a way of winning these games.”

from chronicle. Spot on as usual.

ANOTHER happy clapper ( so some will say) very honest from our manager and we've got to have faith in him.

Absolutely bang on assessment again. Whatever happens in these final weeks we need to keep hold of Duff….somehow.

"We didn’t have the quality" i.e. the players weren't good enough.

    That's about right.

Blaming the ref is outright ********. We got quite a few of the baffling decisions that were made, in our favour.

We weren't good enough, and the ref didn't affect that.

They had done their homework. We haven't ever looked like scoring from a Bobby Thomas long throw, but keep persisting with us and our substitutions are easy to predict. We've lost our surprise element and have been more poor in the past three weeks, then the previous three months and that's a worry.

The Dog and Duck pub team could have beaten Morecambe and FGR. Tonight should worry the fans. It wasn't great at all and isn't a one off recently.

Agree with almost all that. Surprised he’s dragged the ref into it though. There was one incident with the head injury that he should have blown for sooner, but other than that I thought he was pretty anonymous. We simply weren’t good enough.

Absolutely spot on. The only thing i will say is that theres a noticeable difference in approach away from home where we look to go long far more often and far earlier and i dont get it.

He's right about the ref - I commented earlier about his allowing them as much time as they felt like at throw ins and then stealing several yards every time without him sending them back once. Yet he picked us up at least twice for not taking the throw in the right place. As for the "injuries" he was conned from start to finish, but that's normal at football these days. Fall down holding your head and you will at least get a free kick and, with luck, get the other player booked or sent off. It sickens me to watch this play acting but the refs fall for it time after time.

Tbf like, we took forever with every throw in, until the towels magically disappeared.

Lincoln have lost 1 at home all season.

Burton away. Should have been against 10 men after 11 minutes and the chance to go 1 up with the most blatant penalty never given. shocking ref.

We deserved to lose at Exeter.

Our form isnt worrying in the slightest.

A win on Saturday and the lowest we will finish is 4th in the league.

    cheer up.

Bang on yes as usual, from the Duffer lol.
But it concerns me that Micky is getting a bit annoyed maybe, at some of our fans. In those honest and straight to the point comments, I sensed a bit of defensiveness from him. Maybe!.

Strange to mention the ref. Yes 5 minutes added seemed abit short but we didn't look like scoring.

If you’re worried about how we’re doing this season where were you last year, or for quite a few of the past few seasons? Fourth is higher than most of us expected to be with one of our highest points totals. We might not get promotion but I feel a lot happier and more connected with the club than I did a year ago

I hoped we'd win but never thought we would at Lincoln.. had seen em twice and impressed both times.(like Exeter).
If that game last night had been in October or January we'd would have happily taken the point and moved on.
We've dipped in form since beating Wednesday.. or just run out of steam we'll see. But one thing is for sure we'll have to move back to top gear to win the play offs..

But either way, go up or say down.. been a great season.. enjoyed it

Our form isn't that bad, the problem is it's worse than those above us who are all doing exceptionally. Still not over, and we mustn't think like that. What we lacked was width. Williams seems to have stopped going out wide at speed and just slows play down and cuts inside. On the other side Larky was non-existent as an attacking threat. Midfield had a poor game and forwards nothing to work with. We were just blunt - have to learn lessons and move on.

People are genuinely upset because it looks like we have missed out the chance for automatic.
dont think anyone is upset at were are now from where we started
