Let’s not look on the playoffs as failure (if that’s where we finish). It’s an opportunity which we should embrace an have a good go at! As mentioned somewhere above we haven’t been in the top two all season but had a pretty good attempt at it.
What bunting did you hang out last august when it was all doom & gloom ? We have had a magnificent season & made real steps forward , automatic promotion was never in any ones thoughts until recently & then suddenly the armchair fans expectation level started to rise & as soon as we fail to win a match the armchair critic emerges spouting aggressive tripe , well I for one think we have done brilliant & what ever the outcome of the season turns out to be then it has been a great season & gives us a platform to kick on next year, think back 12 months & we are in a far better place now.
I would agree with that, but Stephen Dawson makes a good point. It’s highly unlikely Duff starts next season with us if we don’t go up, players like Bobby Thomas, Williams, Anderson, Kitching, Collins, Isted etc will move on, some because they are loans, the others because they have 1 year left on their contract & the club will need to cash in. Cole will probably attract suitors, Norwood won’t be worth keeping on, Conall will attract Championship interest & we can’t afford not to sell if we don’t go up. So yes we will be back to square one.
I don't get this, why shouldn't he be with us if we don't go up. And, maybe he has players in mind who he wants?
Duff spent 5 years at Cheltenham before being prised away. I think his minimum tenure with us would be getting us promoted and a season in the Championship. My only worry is that his family still lives down south, but other than that he appears to be someone who finishes a project once it's started. I'm guessing his remit for this season was to be challenging for the playoffs, with automatic promotion the target for next year if we stay down.
We just need to win our remaining 4 games and hope it's enough for automatic. 94 points. Owt can happen.
Last night was disappointing but if we are arguing we have ‘blown’ automatic promotion, then it was the results at Exeter and Burton that were the ones that did it. Lincoln haven’t lost to any of the top four this season and don’t lose at home at all barely. A draw last night was quite likely though the match itself was a disappointment.
You never no we might beat ipwich and they might implode like the fowls did, here's hoping,if it's play offs we all know what were capable of we can finish a game quickly, you reeeeds.keep smiling.
I agree. I've calmed down from last night and you were right I was aled up. Not one of my finer posts or hours. Apologies to those I offended last night.
Aaaah, if we won every game we'd be in the Premier league and we'd win the world cup and all of us would get MBEs and a massive chocolate egg. Why can't we just win every game!!! Pick yourself up off the floor and give yourself a good talking to cos you sound like a Fowl.
I wasn't offended mate at all! All I will say is that there's a very direct inverse correlation between the amount of ale consumed and the constructiveness of a person's BBS posts!
